I'll be curious to see what the autopsy comes back with as cause of death.

I wonder if this is similar to George Floyd where he had enough Fentanyl in his system to kill everyone involved.

Given this guy's erratic behavior it's highly likely he was on something.

Just saw a video excerpt from NY Gov. Hochul, saying that the deceased’s demise was because he was a passenger on the subway. UNBELIEVABLE! Well, not really, sadly.

The emphasis should be upon the poor mental health system.

If you do a search with only “subway” and “killing” there is a sickening array of leftist media returns making this mentally ill person portrayed as a sweet kid, vulnerable, a poor victim who was only hungry and crying out for food, an entertainer. As an aside, the deceased had an active warrant for assaulting a 67 year old woman- what an angel.

Only a few venues (Fox, NY Post) are calling for restraint and more information. The typical human garbage like Sharpton, Cortez, and of course protesters are trying to galvanize people into violence by fanning the flames. All the good, honest, law abiding people NYC can hope for is that this narrative doesn’t take root.

Another 24 hours and we'll find out of it gains traction across the US.

He wasn't killed by a White Cop, just White.

Hopefully you're right.

Although the guy was a Marine. NYC Dems may start arguing the need for common sense Marine control. Now that I put that into print it doesn't seem as impossible as before. Their idiocy knows no bounds after all.

Like the case of Trayvon Martin being killed (in self-defense) by George Zimmerman (NOT a cop), the police will be blamed for failing to arrest him soon enough! Why wait for the autopsy results, a close review of pertinent video, or the interview of witnesses, when there's an opportunity to indict not just the white guy that took action to control this lunatic, but all "White Supremacists" that approve of such actions. The African American guy who controlled the crazy's arms? If he were a cop, he could be blamed for not stopping the other citizen that took the initiative. In this case, he'll just be deemed a "collaborator" and demeaned enough to submit to testifying against the man who may have saved him from injury.

Daniel Penny, the Marine who used a chokehold on the NYC Subway is being arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Jordan Neely: Ex-Marine Daniel Penny to be charged over New York subway death

A former US Marine who placed a homeless man in a fatal chokehold on the New York subway is expected to be charged with manslaughter.

Daniel Penny, 24, will be arrested on Friday and accused of causing the death of 30-year-old Jordan Neely in a train carriage on 1 May.

His lawyers say he could not have known his actions to subdue Mr Neely would lead to his death.

My Neely was pinned to the ground and put in a chokehold for several minutes.

He had been shouting at other subway passengers and asking for money, witnesses said, but there is no indication he had physically attacked anyone.

The incident was filmed by bystanders and sparked protests across New York. A video captured by a freelance journalist on the train shows the former Marine holding the Mr Neely around the neck for two minutes and 55 seconds.

He was later found unconscious in the carriage and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death resulted from compression of the neck, the city's medical examiner ruled.

Mr Penny told other riders to call the police during the struggle, according to CBS News, the BBC's US partner.

He was questioned and released by police in New York on the day of the incident. But on Thursday, prosecutors said they would bring criminal charges against him.

"We can confirm that Daniel Penny will be arrested on a charge of manslaughter in the second degree," a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

"We cannot provide any additional information until he has been arraigned in Manhattan criminal court."

It is not clear whether charges will be brought against two other unidentified people who were also seen restraining Mr Neely.

In a statement earlier this month, lawyers for Mr Penny expressed condolences to the Neely family, and said Mr Penny and other passengers acted in self-defence.

They said Mr Neely's behaviour was "the apparent result of ongoing and untreated, mental illness", which prompted Mr Penny and others "to protect themselves, until help arrived".

A witness to the altercation said Mr Neely was shouting about being hungry and thirsty. Police sources also told CBS News that Mr Neely was allegedly acting erratically.

In a statement earlier this week, Mr Neely's family said that Mr Penny needed to be in prison. "The family wants you to know that Jordan matters," they said.

Mr Neely was a Michael Jackson impersonator who frequently performed in Times Square.

He had a number of previous offences, which New York City Mayor Eric Adams said highlights the need to improve the mental health system so that it can better protect people like him.

He had 42 arrests on charges such as evading fares, theft, and assaults on three women, according to US media reports.

His mother, Christie Neely, was murdered in 2007 by her boyfriend, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2012, according to the Jersey Journal.

Following his mother's death, Mr Neely began experiencing mental health issues, his aunt, Carolyn Neely, told the New York Post.

Ugh. This poor marine. He’s fooked.

Can’t imagine why the population is getting ever more apathetic. Lemme see…get involved and subdue a freak and he accidentally dies and I get arrested and bankrupt myself in legal bills and still likely do jail time or just look the other way. Even cops in various jurisdictions doing everything 100% by the book get hung out to dry by their department and or local prosecutors. And they usually have a team of union defense lawyers (assuming it’s a righteous incident)

I CCW and can take care of myself in an altercation going hands on. But it’s got to be escalated pretty far before I get involved. Like active shooter/stabbed. Call me a pussy if you want but I’m not getting involved and going down for some BS criminal charge even when I’m in the right. Especially if the miscreant is another race than mine.

The guy died in the hospital later, if the media is to be believed. The autopsy report will be helpful.

Daniel Penny’s defense fund over $1M after manslaughter charge in Jordan Neely subway death

https://nypost.com/2023/05/13/...nd-passes-1-million/

Thousands of donors raced to help Marine Daniel Penny Saturday as a fund for his legal defense surpassed $1 million – in a tsunami of support that swamped the hosting website and disabled it for more than an hour.

“There was a big surge in traffic and our servers were temporarily overwhelmed,” Jacob Wells, co-founder of the giving platform GiveSendGo, told The Post.

Penny, 24, who placed Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on a Manhattan subway train on May 1, was arraigned Friday on a second-degree manslaughter charge and released on $100,000 bail.

But more than 23,000 donors — who mostly remained anonymous — have flocked to the GiveSendGo campaign created by his attorneys to show their support.

By Saturday afternoon, the “Daniel Penny’s Legal Defense Fund” site had raised a total of $1,082,576 — with donations throughout the morning averaging $821 a minute.

The surge of gifts swelled to more than $1,100 per minute before the site locked up.

"fatal chokehold"
So it has been established that the chokehold is what killed him?

No autopsy necessary?

Hmmm...
So the former Marine gets charged, but not the former Army that held Neely's arm down?

Interesting

And usually it takes a few weeks for a full screening for blood work/drugs/etc. Bragg skipped the Grand Jury process and issued the warrant himself. It will be interesting on what information the defense's medical examiner finds and a full release of all the video(s).

CNN called whatshisface a "street artist." Roll Eyes Is it "art" to sucker-punch random people in the face now? Unfortunately, his prior bad acts can't be used in the Marine's defense.

Dude's own family says he was "self-medicating" with spice (K2) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne...cating-K2-death.html .

Spice is synthetic cannabinoid, but there's no set recipe for how it's made, or what chemicals go into it. It used to be real popular around here because it wouldn't show up on most employment drug tests. I've seen it do anything from making people sick to turning them into outright raving zombies like somebody on bath salts. I remembered one guy vividly...the call was that he attacked his girlfriend and just about bit her thumb off. When the first officer got on scene, he was standing in the street looking at the ground. He stood there for a few moments, stared at the officer vacantly without doing anything, and then it suddenly clicked and he ran at the cop. A fight ensued, cop ended up getting kicked in the nuts, and the dude ultimately got apprehended by a K9. When I got there they'd just gotten him in cuffs and we're sitting him up.

While we were waiting for medics, he started puking everywhere. When we got him in the ambulance, his heart rate was through the roof as was his blood pressure. Then he suddenly crashed and went completely unresponsive. They had to pump him full of something (I think it was epi) to get him back, and it was very much up and down for a bit. Dude was lucky they got there when they did because he might not have made it otherwise.

The point is, people jacked up on random chemicals will do crazy stuff. And those chemicals will make their bodies respond in ways that a normal person wouldn't. If Jordan Neeley was on spice, it's likely what killed him. Not Daniel Penney.
