I was hoping you'd see this post, Jesse, lol. This one was the right combination of everything. The Golf R is fantastic...but it would have been a 3 year old CPO model with less warranty. It was a toss-up.

FN in MT: I get it. My other car has fantastic Recaros in it. Nothing like them. The GTi seats are very good...but they are not Recaros.

.38supersig-- Ha. My commute is 2.5 miles. I may extend it now, just to drive around.

GWbiker-- That sounds like a Golf R at that price point. It's an excellent car.

I like everything about it!

My dad had a VW Rabbit GTI when I was a boy, and I recall riding with him in it. I'm sure it wasn't blindingly fast, but to a kid it sure seemed like I was strapped to a rocket!

Awesome choice. I have had 4 GTI’s and loved them all. My favorite is still my first the 2009 MK5. I bought them all new and all were manuals.

We are halfway to your total of 4, Dusty78. Still a ways to go.
I hoped you would chime in on this thread. I've read of your GTis over the years, and just admired from afar.
I've had faster cars, quicker cars, and cars that were more fun. They all were focused heavily on that *one* thing, however.
The GTi balances all of those (and more) unlike any other car.

Congrats!

I have a 2018 Autobahn version in the same color. I really like it.

Nice Ride, bit of a Luxury Sedan with a fair bit of spunk. Have a Fiesta ST that is a real blast to drive but the ride is a bit like a buckboard. On the plus side it's the most responsive handling car I've ever driven. Anyhow I completely understand your calling this car a Keeper, I plan on keeping my ST until they stick me in the ground.

I've stopped counting.

Absolutely correct. It truly is a Goldie Locks car. It’s the perfect daily driver for someone who wants to smile on the way to work every day.

We also have a FiST, a 2016 model (with modifications). It is the funnest car I've ever owned, hands-down. I toned the rear suspension down with a $150 pair of Koni ST.R shocks. Completely changed the car.
We may/may not keep the FiST. Currently under discussion.

Ha, yes. Good eye. It belongs to the guy who maintains our neighbor's house and lawn. It's a beater of sorts, but the guy loves it.
There are two other M-Bs in his garage, just out of the frame. And our E46 ZHP coupé is just to the left in our garage, out of frame.
