It has been 20 years since I bought a brand-new car. I usually buy my vehicles when they are 2-3 years old. However, the combination of slow sales and low interest rates brought about by the pandemic proved to be an opportunity.
Today, we brought home this leftover '19 VW GTi SE in Dark Iron Blue, 6 speed manual transmission.

Dynamic LED headlights (they are awesome), leather interior (wish I could get Clark Plaid cloth with the SE, but no go), sunroof, and the dealer added on the optional Pretoria wheels.

My wife has a '15 S model (with the Clark Plaid interior) and we've become smitten by these cars.
Final tally was $7k off the sticker price of $33,950. We put a decent chunk of money down, and payments are very affordable.
'19 is the last year of the 6 year/72,000 mile warranty, another bonus.
This one will be a keeper.
I just had to share, as it might be another 20 years before I buy new again. Big Grin

Congratulations! I have the same car, but you have cooler wheels (pic in other post). You’ll love it!

Very nice! FWD or AWD?

Artie, GTi is FWD; the Golf R is AWD.

wreckdiver-- That's a coincidence, as '99 was when I bought my previous brand-new car (have had a few used cars since then).

Awesome looks great! My daughter has a 2019 Rabbit and it is an awesome car and a lot for the money. Hers is a DCT vs. Manual - but personally prefer the manual. Looks awesome and congratulations!

As a former VW GTI owner (way back in the 1980s), I have to ask: how fast is it and how quick and nimble is it? Big Grin

Had a 2010 GTI and loved it. Unfortunately the seats didn't like me. No matter what I tried (short of buying reccaros) I could not do more than an hour in it without pain.

They are great cars. Nimble, bulletproof and get great mileage to boot.

Congrats...Enjoy.

Beautiful car. Last time I was in local VW dealership (2017), they had a loaded new GTI like yours with a sticker of $43K.

It was quickly sold.

Congrats! Really like that color. We had a 2013. Fun/practical car and we never had any issues with it...I’d buy another.

I was thinking about emailing you to see if you got that one in Woodbridge or if you were going to go with the new GTI. Type R seems so damn appealing to me, except when you said it's not real AWD.

Congratulations bro! Enjoy it! I'm driving my first new car ever in 25 years of car ownership right now. If feels nice to make the first but impression in your car.

PS nice color choice.
