Lost a 2nd pair to a cracked nose piece, yesterday. The last pair were Bex like below: A bit bigger than I'd have liked. Not sure on budget, but not wanting to drop $500 on a pair. The Enemy's gate is down.

I like the Maui Jim suggestion above. Can't say enough positive things about Maui Jim and their repair policy. I am still wearing my Maui's that I bought in 1998. They've been shipped back for repair 3 times since then. You know the old adage; Buy once, cry once. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. I've been doing oakleys for a while. If you are Mil/LE/vet etc they give a pretty steep discount on their site.

I have Maui Jim Lighthouse like the ones above, but with the bronze lenses/black frame. The bronze lenses looks great outside. Looks like right after it rains when the sun pokes through the clouds. I also have Ray-Ban RB3183. I had to do a bit of bending to get them to fit on on my face. Ever since I got Lasik, I can't see as well in dark conditions, so I went with lighter tinted lenses with the Maui Jim's. I was a big time Oakley guy since the late 90's, but they currently don't make anything I am interested in. Not a big fan of the chunky plastic frames, aviators, or the wayfarer look that are in these days.

My ophthalmologist recommended Maui Jim’s several years ago and I love them. Very little distortion and very well made. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

I’m a sunglasses snob. Serengeti and Oakley mainly. My wife got me a 25 dollar pair of Goodr’s. 25 bucks. I have to admit I like them enough I bought a couple more to stash all over my house and cars.

I used to be skeptical not wanting to pay the price of Maui Jims. But one consideration you need to think about is nose fit. I used to buy Oakleys one after the other but they didn't fit my nose right. I only learned they didn't fit me right when I tried Maui Jims. I have two of the same model as when I sent one off to be repaired, I didn't want to wait so I bought I a second pair. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Staring back from the abyss |
I have a pair of these. Picked them up at the airport in Chicago a few years ago whilst flying through. They are good quality, fit well, and are so light you hardly know you're wearing them. My only complaint is that I'd like the lenses to be darker. I have the bronze, and they work well, but I'd just prefer them to be darker. It's apparently not an option. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

My problem is trying to find sunglasses that fit my big head. Most brands are kind of small for me but after getting a pair of Costa Caballitos, they are the most comfortable. I actually got them for free, as they came with a pistol I bought years ago at my ffl dealer. I also like Oakley XX as they also fit quite comfortably but they might be out of fashion now but I don't buy things for fashion. And if the Oakley XX are a thing from the past, I always liked the feel of Gargoyles Classic sunglasses.

Hey, has anyone mentioned Maui Jim’s? Absolutely love mine (Peahi’s fit my big head). There’s a reason over half of this thread has suggestions for Maui Jim sunglasses. They’re perfect. Just pick a pair that fits your head and style, then enjoy! ___________________________ No thanks, I've already got a penguin.
