thin skin can't win |
I've been hooked on Maui Jim for a decade now, love them. Wife got me a new pair a few years ago, the Frigate line. Same great lens quality but the lightest frames I've ever had. Unfortunately, they have broken in half at the nosepiece three times in 5 years. The good news is they can be shipped in for a "frame replacement" which is really code for they just ship me a new pair for $80, not the $3-400 these cost new. I'm good with that for the benefit of lightness. If you don't want that I'd stick to the more durable plastic frames. You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

Browsed a bit 1: The RayBan site sucks, extremely slow to load. From what I was able to see, the New [Customized] Wayfarer would likely be my choice there. 2: Maui Jim has a lot of nice options The Dragon's Teeth & Lighthouse were the 2 I kept coming back to. Tough to buy without being able to try them on first. We're leaving on Sunday for vacation to FL, so would be awesome to be able to have them before then. The Enemy's gate is down.

Never much liked Ray Ban Aviators but like them a lot less after seeing Brandon wearing them. He looks like a dork. I do have a pair of Wayfarers that I like. Been trying to locate something similar to the ones Paul Newman wore in the movie Le Mans but no luck so far. Several close but no stogie yet. Enabler. I see my local Academy is a retailer, and I do need to stop in there for some stuff for our trip. Leaning more toward the MJ Lighthouse than the RB New Wayfarer. For the RayBan wearers, how is the rubber for the matte finishes? Hold up well to lots of outdoor & heat? After losing my last 2 pairs of sunglasses to plastic failures, I'm leaning more toward a metal framed option. The Enemy's gate is down.

I wear el cheapos but ShadyRays are advertised every 1/2 inning on mlb audio. The ad makes them sound like quality and they have an unconditional guarantee. https://shadyrays.com/ ________________________ God spelled backwards is dog

I have a few pair of Shady Ray's. They are very nice and for the price you can't beat them! I lost a pair of Ventura, which are their top tier line, which have acetate frames and run around $80.00. I got on line filled out the forms and a new pair was in my hands in a few days. I also broke the frame on a different pair, same thing, and in a few days a new pair. Their headquarters are just down the road from me and the founder is a friend of my niece I have found out. ARman

There's a few of those SR options that look good, and at 1/3 the price of the RB & MJ. Might get a pair of those, then move them to 'beater' status when I get the MJ. The Enemy's gate is down.

MJ's service is fantastic. Had a pair similar to the ones posted, puppy got a hold of them and chewed the lens. Replaced both and added some doggy treats in the package. Quick turn around also..

I like Costa del Mar, my wife likes Maui Jim. The style I wear is called the Bloke. They have good coverage, and are polarized glass lenses. Check them out here: https://www.costadelmar.com/en...s/6S9045-97963554336

Maui Jim, Randolph, Costa or Ray Ban. All are good. Smith and Nike also make good glasses if they fit your need, particularly Smith. Costa's and Randolph Engineering. Costa for everyday and Randolphs for seat time. Costa's are nice but the polarization makes part of my panel disappear so that's a no-go. I wore Rayban's for years up until about 20 years ago but after trying on a pair of Costa's I was sold. Dont get me wrong Maui Jim's are nice but they feel so lightweight that I feel like I will break them when I wear them. Fellow Big Head here as well. I wore Costa Man-O-War's for years until Costa ceased making them. Now I have moved to FanTail Pros and love them. YMMW but I continue to be happy with my choice.
