So I work with a woman whose daughter we hired a while back. She’s a really good kid, works harder than most people I know. She’s rocking straight A’s in high school. She saved and bought a Wrangler Rubicon. Her mom didn’t want her going off road without someone making sure she would be okay.
So this girls father is dying. Long and short, he has kidney failure and his heart is in bad shape so no transplant. He isn’t able to go out and teach her how to use her Jeep.
My wife and I loaded up and met up with her and her mom. She’s a damn good driver for being 16 (16 and 8 months if you ask her). I had planned out a much easier trail and she said it looked boring. She said she wanted a trail that would require more than a two wheel drive, and wanted a challenge. Being that she follows directions at work, I assumed she will do the same outside of work. She does. She followed direction when I was spotting and she did great. A little more brake control and learning that speed equals scraping...

Anyways, what an awesome day. Not just did I do something I enjoy, but I feel that I did something good for someone else. It was an amazing day with some awesome friends.

What a great way to spend a day -- beautiful weather, having some fun, teaching a kid.

Cool

Every girl at school here drives a Wrangler. A few even have off road kits. It was already laughable, but seeing how this kid drives hers, it makes all the little rich suburbanite girls driving Wranglers even more laughable.

That’s fantastic. Good for you guys for helping her out. How does a 16 year old SAVE enough for a Jeep Rubicon though. I mean, come on. I’m an airline captain and rubicon’s are expensive to me. Lol.

What you guys are doing is the best way to pass along a skill. I bet her mom and dad are very grateful.

It’s a 2009. She has worked on and off since she was 15 where I work. She has had another job for 4 hours each morning before school, that she has saved every cent from. She’s quite a motivated person.
She did get it with a lift and 35’s already on it. Added a winch and some lights on Friday.

Smlsig, it’s an automatic.

Don’t tell her the story about how I once saw a stock Chevy Astro make it all the way up Broken Arrow to Chicken Point. Where it parked right next to a bunch of Rubis.

She’ll demand something more challenging.

Yes, Broken Arrow is just outside of Sedona, at the end of Morgan Road, off of Highway 179.

Someone down the street here has a gray Rubicon but damn it has HUGE tires that make your 35's look like drink coasters. The Jeep appears to have lifts and the tires are offset much wider than stock. Crazy, resembling more like a "monster" truck. Big Grin
