What years were you chasing this guy around? What did you like? And if you’re really good, how much was it?

I was born in ‘72 so I was running after him in the late ‘70’s to early ‘80’s. Creamsicle’s or ice cream sandwiches were my favorite and I’m gonna say they were around 25¢ to 35¢.

I'd chase him tomorrow, or to your point I'm still chasing him! Mid to late seventies maybe into the early eighties. Priced about like yours. Seems like we're pushing $5 now.

Bomb Pop. Don't recall the price. They were huge and seemed to be the best value for my hard earned $2 weekly chore income. Serious brain freeze. Big Grin

Mr. Softee around here in the 60's and 70's.
The soft serve cones are all I remember. A dedicated ice cream truck. Now they are just vans with frozen popsicles. But granddaughter likes them and it's my job to spoil her!
And if I hear Turkey in the straw one more time, I'm getting out my shotgun, blow the speakers off that Damn van!

I lived in the country we didn't have a ice cream man. But I saw them when I went to visit my city cousins.

Born in the 50s, chasing the truck in the early 60s.

My favorites was Dreamsicles and the orange "Push up Pops".

While there were other "Premiums", the aforementioned were affordable "bonus".

And more times than not, I and my little sister just shared the "Twin Pops".

SoCal, early 60s. And now you made me think of things....

Catchy little Van Haken song.
We had a guy right down the street from us. Thinking back I imagine he was retired and just wanted to do something. Iggy's Igloo was the name.
I like the toasted almond bar and also the creamlike.

The GH man in my neighborhood must have had something better than ice cream waiting at home. If you weren't out waiting at one of his regular stops before he got there, you'd probably lose out. He'd also drive right past the stop if there weren't at least three potential customers waiting. Chocolate ice cream on a stick for me. This was circa 1962 or so.

The other one, where I didn't have to run so hard, was the hottie who tended the deep freeze chest at the pool. Peggy was as sweet as her wares and probably got handed more of my teenage allowance than anyone. I still put my Snickers in the freezer on occasion.

One summer, must gave been 1971, I got a one-day training run on a Mr. Softee truck, and then was sent out solo the next day. It only took me one solo trip to realize I was not cut out for working the DC ghetto route they gave all newbies. Any refusal of free ice cream was met with a death threat. It got old after a few hours of abuse. The manager just gave me a knowing look when I handed in the keys to the truck that I had cleaned up well for the next victim, I knew there would be more abuse from him if I hadn't.

No ice cream man in my small town growing up. We were forced to ride our bikes to Dairy Queen for our butterscotch dipped cones.
