Fall fishing on the Finger Lakes
Yesterday I spent an enjoyable day fishing on Cayuga Lake with two childhood friends, Jim who was in from New Mexico and John, our Captain and a professional guide in the Finger Lakes region. Lots of laughs and some good fishing. After a crappy week it was just what I needed.

Very nice. Which lake were you on?

I fished the southern end of Cayuga years ago. Didn't do worth a damn. Big Grin

I have fished Cayuga a few times. Been caught out in some nasty storms too. Owasko is my favorite. My brother and I would be out on Owasko very early in the morning with a huge air pot of steaming hot coffee. Good times. He lives near Cayuga at the locks.

Is that a Rainbow followed by a Lake Trout?

We went to fish Cayuga last week but couldn’t get the boat running. So, we went to Sandy Pond - off Lake Ontario - to fish from shore.

My buddy caught this bass on a 4” bluegill.

My friend had a summer home on Big Sandy. I would go up twice per year to help him open and close up. Once, at the end of the season, Walt and I finished off 7 half gallons of ice cream his grand children left uneaten.

Nice pictures. How deep were you fishing? Nice looking fish.

Hey Brad. We were anywhere from 60 to 100 feet, depending on where the thermocline was setting up. Jigging, not trolling. Lots of fun.

I grew up in Central NY. My father's boss had a place on Cayuga Lake. We were invited there a few times and I had fun fishing from the bank. I recall catching mostly sunnies, but catching those was lots of fun as a kid.

Off topic but a interesting fact about Cayuga Lake. The place I visited on Cayuga Lake was next door to a place owned by Rod Serling. He was the host of Twilight Zone and was also a prolific author. If you look at the end of any episode, you'll see that the name of his company was Cayuga Productions.
