I am a Ducati freak. I like Triumphs and ride one right now and really enjoy it. But, over the last year or two I have been lusting after a Guzzi. Bad. I have always liked them but, now it is becoming a big want.

I like the V7 just don’t know about the engine size. Of course I can get one of the oversized piston kits that are sold. I do not like the way the V9/Bobber looks like.

I know what you mean you'll just need to test ride one to see. All I can say is I find it has plenty of power for solo riding, unless you need to go 80+ up hills with lots of reserve power. There's a long up hill grade, enough that there's a mandatory truck pull off to check their brakes, I ride up that grade 70 mph (actual) in 6th gear at 4,400 rpm and still have nice acceleration w/o downshifting. So for spirited riding on curvy two lane roads it certainly has more power than I have skill. And mine is a V7II, the newer 2017+ V7III's are more powerful.

ridewv, you have impeccable taste! I graduated from VPI in 1974 and bought a V7 Sport to replace my Yamaha 650. It was used, might have been a 1972, it’s been too long to remember. I was employed in the far SW corner of VA near Cumberland Gap. I had more fun with that back in those mountains!

It’s great to know someone still appreciates the brand. I’ll post a picture of it if I can dig it up. Enjoy the new ride!

Thanks! She might not look like much but thrown some revs into her and get into the pipe and watch out!

Kidding aside, I cant even fathom the miles I out on that thing once I got my learners permit. My Dad kept it for about 10 years until something broke and he couldn't not find parts anywhere.

I had a 2001 California Special that I sold about four years ago. It was a great bike. The only downside was finding a dealer to service it. The only dealer within a hundred miles closed up in 2010. On the other hand, it never needed any servicing that I couldn't give it. Smile

I never owned one, but I liked Guzzis. That was one reason that I bought a Honda CX 650 Custom. It had an engine and drive train configuration similar to a Guzzi.

That was many years ago.

If we only had those V7 Sports back, right afflattop? Mine had a big 4LS drum front brake I believe by 1973 they had dual disc.
The new V7's really feel similar to how I remember the old one did only better in most ways as one would expect. Were I buying one new now it might be a 2018 V7 III Racer only I'd want cast wheels.
Or the all new V85 should be out by next riding season. Smile

Yes, this is one that I have always regretted losing. Mine had double disks, so it must have been a later year than I thought.

I’m afraid the “v’s” don’t excite me like they used to. Age and a ruptured disc have changed my riding style I’m afraid. I’d probably get an Eldorado, in black of course. I always thought they looked great back in the day.

If you don’t object, I’ll email you a picture of my v7. Ever since the change to photo image, I’ve been unsuccessful in posting an image to the forum. I do miss that bike and the experiences it afforded.
