I’m a little late to this conversation but, I’m currently trying to do some fund raising for Deliverfund. I listen to them on the team never quit podcast, it seems like these guys have a really good service to offer. I’m not sure how to check their finances like Rhino said to do but...

Anyway, I’m doing a charity run if anyone wants to donate I’ll leave the link.

Charity Navigator has not rated them yet because they have less than $1 million in revenue:

Guidestar gives it a gold level rating for a high level of transparency:

CharityWatch.org has not rated it yet.

Give.org also has not rated it yet.

It is a low profile, small charity but it does have one solid rating.

Looking at their leadership, it really appears to be a great organization.

Sorry, I don’t have it in recorded form. I’ve got kind of an outline in my head that I tailor to the audience or situation at hand. I’ve usually got the actual communications I can refer to and show them as well. Most parents refuse to believe that their kids talk about sex and share pictures online and when they find out it’s true they refuse to believe that they might bear some of the blame for giving an 11 year old a phone with a camera and unfettered access to the internet. Kids are impressionable, easily led, and don’t understand long term consequences.

I try to remind them that we were all pre teens once. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I did PLENTY of dumb stuff when I was 15-16. Thankfully I didn’t have a device in my pocket that would record it all for posterity, share it to the internet, and place me in direct communication with predators who wanted to take advantage of me.

With the internet, kids are discovering sex earlier. I start seeing cases of kids sharing explicit material with other kids at about 11 years old. They are learning about sex from the internet, and what they are learning isn’t particularly healthy sex. Remember hiding that Playboy from your parents? That magazine was a lot harder to get than typing pornhub into a browser.

We end up with young kids and teens going through a confusing time of development and who have been exposed to a tremendous amount of graphic sexual material. If there isn’t a strong parental figure who can control what they are exposed to, and probably more importantly balance the internet nonsense with healthy and accurate information about sex, relationships, and consequences, we shouldn’t be surprised that they start off on the wrong foot. This leaves them exposed and vulnerable to predators that will take advantage of them.

Monitor your kids internet usage. Check their browser and search histories. If they have social media (they have social media) GET THEIR PASSWORDS. They can have all the privacy they want the minute they turn 18 and go out on their own. Until then, you need to be able to monitor things like Facebook Messenger. I get complaints from the National Center of Missing and Exploited children daily regarding images sent via social media. The majority of these are teen to teen. A lot of them, however, are teen to adult or vise versa.

Talk to your kids. Watch what they do. Above all, understand that they are kids and they really don’t get it. When they screw up, approach it from a place of love and understanding. They need to know that they can come to you if some creepy person contacts them, or they foolishly send a picture they shouldn’t have to another boy or girl and now it’s going around the school. It’s a lot easier to address these issues early on than it is if they are afraid and hide it and just let the situation fester.

I tell parents and kids both that this kind of thing is kind of like walking into the woods. You take a step, and you’re fine because the trail is right there. You take another few steps and you remember the trail is right over there. You keep going deeper and before you know it the trail is gone and there are wolves on the prowl.

Kids are explorers by nature. They are going to wander into the woods. Parents need to be there to keep them from wandering to far and to guide them back when they stray.

Back to the original post, I’m not surprised at all that the US leads the world in sex trafficking. We are a large developed nation and nearly our entire populace has access to the internet. A large segment of the populace uses the internet to babysit their kids. We as a society also place a priority on protecting children and when something happens we report it rather than turning a blind eye to it and pretending it doesn’t happen. I get reports from all over the world. Trafficking is happening everywhere. We just acknowledge it more openly than most.

I hope that some of you took the time to read the short article that Black92LX posted. Some of these supposed anti-traficking organizations seem to be more interested in criticizing President Trump and supporting illegal immigration. Let the donor beware.

^^ Were you talking about Polaris? Because it only makes sense for a charity to avoid becoming aligned with one political party or faction or another. Not only does it cut the pool of potential donors more or less in half, but it makes a non-partisan effort look like a political tool for one side or another and therefore makes the charity a political target in this the age of hyperpartisan politics. I mean, really - would you donate to ACORN, or vote to give public money to ACORN if you were in office?

Let me start by saying there is no more despicable crime than this, nor can I imagine a punishment horrible enough to be considered "cruel and unusual" for child molesters/traffickers.

However, I'm having a little trouble believing the statistic quoted above. Annually maybe, but daily?

Me too. Advocates often cherry - pick their statistics or use questionable definitions. They would better serve themselves by being scrupulously accurate.
