For those of you hosting your avatar with Sigmonkey, you can ask him to have a SSL certificate added to the http://www.wootmonkey.com/ domain. It may be something very simple and free for him to do.

if he is able to meet your request, you may need to change the URL of your avatar to https://... instead of http://...

I’m on my phone (Safari) with no issues right now. Has anyone tried Edge on their windows machine? I remember the issues with Firefox and Chrome.

Yesterday, I noticed that the title color of the SigForum sections that I visit often, e.g., “The Lounge”, had changed from red to black, indicating that I hadn’t visited them recently. The same with title color of threads that I’d read recently.

I wondered why. That happens if I clear site bookmarks, but I’d done nothing like that. Now I know!

Thanks again for the best forum on the web Para!

I am having the same issue as you described. On both Chrome and Edge my photos and avatar are shown as broken, however on Firefox I can see the photos and avatar but also get the warning in the address bar.

Could the reason be that I am using wingnut's site to host my avatar/photos and tatortodd is doing the same ?

Because SF is now set up to redirect HTTP requests to HTTPS. All the links you visited before were "http://..." and now they're "https://..."

Because, as noted earlier, the avatar photos are "http://" resources and SF's pages are now "https://" resources. Firefox is warning you the image resources are "unsafe." Chrome is instead simply refusing the load the "unsafe" resources.

Two ways to fix this: 1. Persuade those hosting the images to get HTTPS working and change your avatar reference to "https://..." 2. Chose a different hosting site/service/whatever to one that supports HTTPS.

Ok, three ways: Eliminate your avatar.

Thanks, I sent him an email with a copy of your post. Hopefully he can easily update and fix a bunch of the picture links. Will advise back what he says/does.

I sent Creslin a nice note too. Myself and many others have been the beneficiary of the generosity of his avatar hosting (http://iamwingnut.com/photos/) for several years.

These members that are hosting for y'all: If they're hosting on Linux/Unix servers they're more than welcome to some stuff I wrote to automate the installation and automated renewal of Let's Encrypt SSL certs.

I'm running said installation/renewal support on my home server and two virtual servers in a server farm.

That thread was about problems with the registration process, unrelated to the subject of this thread. I deleted the thread, since the problem is now corrected.

I have an original Mark1 Mod0 iPad running IOS 4.3.x, and AFAIK is unable to be upgraded any further. Mostly I use it for surfing the forum, and playing solitaire. While perched on the throne.

Tried it last night, and it looks like it's a dedicated solitaire machine now... Frown

This might actually be a good thing. I was spending WAY too much time in there when the insomnia hit, and my legs were falling asleep. That can be exciting when you try to stand up! Eek

as long as it was to fix something on your end, then that's the key point.

We appreciate all the things you do for this board, Para.
