Voted at 11am this morning.

There were more poll workers than voters.

Took me longer to walk from the parking lot to the polls than it did to vote.

Kind of the same. Stopped on my way home from work. No line, but the old gal (who told me she's been a poll worker since the early 70s) told me that she's never seen it this busy. No back-ups, just a constant flow of people all morning.

Showed my ID, signed next to my name/address in the ledger, got my paper ballot, filled it out, and was done in under 5 minutes.

The radio said 65% of Florida voters voted early or by mail. Despite being reminded repeatedly, my 18yo son was not one of them. He's on his way back from college right now to get this done.

I have voted. I would walk on hot coals to vote today if I had to.

My 3 children have not, and will not. They think it doesn't matter. I've tried nagging them... reasoning with them, praying for them. It's pathetic and so sad...

This is how my eldest, a graduate of the USNA, justifies not participating:

Yes. AL does not have early voting. Line was all the way around the church. Very heavy turnout.

Sheriff's deputies and volunteers directing traffic and locating and directing cars to open parking spaces. Volunteers serving hot dogs to voters who came during their lunch hour.

Voted a straight ticket; done in seconds.

Great turnout. Hope it indicates a great result.

If they don't vote, then they will be in no position to make any future judgements on the way that the country is run.

Dropped off our ballots at the place a half mile up the road. Just a little church, but the parking lot was mostly full. Every booth was taken and there was a small line. Plenty of activity for the lunch hour on the outskirts.

I've told them that.
But they think it's so corrupt it needs to implode and withholding their consent is their form of protest.
I tell them it can get worse... lack of participation isn't helping.

Not just that, but voting isn't only about the President, or even Congress and the Senate. There's a lot of local positions on most ballots that can affect your day-to-day life even more than the federal ones. Yeah, there's corruption, but not everywhere or at every level. Refusing to go to the polls just to make a point removes your ability to select qualified leadership and/or hold them accountable once they're in office. It's cutting off your nose to spite your face. Frown

I voted early but got my wife and daughter to the polls today. So many people voted early in Georgia (despite Stacy Abrams claims) that the lines were short and voting vote was quick for both of them.

Yep waited until 10:30 this morning to miss the early crowd. Voted democrat for agriculture commissioner and republican for everything else. Also against the school bond levy which had already been defeated earlier this year, but they seem to never quit and add it to every election until it passes.

Went and did it this morning. Got there about 11:15 and there were probably 80 people there to vote. I've never seen more than 2 or 3 other people in there for any of the previous elections since I've lived here. Took half an hour all told.

Voted just before 11am. Parking was a nightmare at our volunteer fire department polling site. Never have seen so many and I've been voting there since the early '90s. Took much longer than normal but the officials were very kind. Even offered me water while I waited. My son voted there about 2:30 and he said it is still swamped.

In and out in less than 15 minutes for both of us, just got back.

It was maddening to see RFK on the ballot here in IL even though he dropped out a couple months back, but what-the-hell, it's been corrupt here since before I was born.

BTW, for all those who voted early at DJT's request, guess when he and Vance voted...hint, they both voted today.

After so many years voting in IL, I knew that the chances of my ballot getting stolen or altered were infinitely greater, the longer it was out of my hands, so I never even considered it. I sincerely doubt the Republicans would ever do the corrupt things that Democrats consider a time-honored tradition and did so blatantly in 2020, but I'm not gonna give them the opportunity.

Don't scatter election results commentary to threads like this when those results start coming in, guys. Post all of it in the Trump thread and perhaps the Kamala thread.

Yeah, I took one look at the mailed ballot and decided some time looking into the judges and initiatives and all that would make it easier to fill out at home, but I wasn't going to drop it off until election day because I had the same gut feeling you did. Nah, best to flood them with so many damned votes on election day that they can't get their act together IMO.

Voted today, the actual election day. Mid-afternoon, there were no waiting lines, just sailed through all the steps.

Biggest delay was the woman at the check-in desk who had absolutely no idea of how to handle any government-issued ID other than Driver License. She had to call a supervisor to explain to her that a U.S. Passport is absolutely valid ID, and is one of the items on the approved list that she had right in front of her. She probably would have had a stroke if I had used one of the other approved IDs on the list, a Florida carry permit.
