I recommend not doing that. If anything, you could simply leave these two straps unsnapped, but if you're carrying it in a vehicle and not enclosed in a glove box or center console or the like, I would leave those straps snapped.

Consider a tool like that flying through the air in the cab of your vehicle during a crash, which can generate several G's of force. It's my belief that Gerber designed this redundancy into the sheath to guard against that very thing, for aircraft crashes.

You'll note in my original post that I said that an ESEE 5 is a plenty robust tool for the task in question; has a superior pommel for smashing, too. But, I could not ever trust its sheath to retain the knife in a high-speed impact.

Thanks, Para, If I place it under the seat as you did, I will have the snaps on it. I'm trying to find a way to secure it in the console without drilling a hole in the side of the console.
