I cannot dance, and it took me WAY less than my 60 years to figure it out. Not only can I not dance, but I cannot clap along to music with any accuracy either!

The above is especially sad since I play bass guitar, have played in two different ones over the past 20 years, and I cannot help to get "locked into rhythm" when listening to music, either live or recorded! How the hell does that make any sense?!? Heck, the last band I was in wasn't that great, and they often had to rely on the bass guitar (me) to keep time and rhythm... yet my feet cannot dance, and my hands cannot clap! Makes zero sense, but it's totally true!!!

Yer killin' me. Your sense of rhythm is so impaired, you can't even keep a beat, and yet you say you play bass guitar?

To be fair, a bass guitarist is only 66% of a real guitarist. Big Grin

I didn't say my sense of rhythm was "impared; I said my feet have no sense of rhythm (to match what's in my head), and neither do my hands while clapping!

Before becoming a bassist, I played in three other bands off and on, both as a rhythm guitarist, and alto saxophone. I can keep extremely accurate timing "in my head" and while playing an instrument, yet for some reason my feet do not cooperate, and neither do my hands when attempting to clap a rhythm! Yes, it sounds absurd, but it is what it is!

Well at least they're real musicians, unlike drummers! LOL

I don't know. But at least you aren't an accordion player.

Oh, I see. Sorry, I didn't know you're spastic.

It seems to me that diffiulty in getting your hands and feet coordinated to the beat would also extend to your fingers.

Seriously? You don't know me, yet you call me "spastic"?!?

Whatever... you have a right to your own opinion. When you have recorded bass tracks for an album in a studio like I have, then I guess you will have authority to question my playing abilities.

Good day sir!

Well, it was a joke, Bill. You're in here every day and you still don't know me?

Is this the spot where I'm supposed to challenge you to a duel, or accept a challenge to a duel, or, maybe, you've got two tickets to a duel and you want to know if I'll go?

You come in here saying you can't clap your hands and feet to a beat, but you play bass, and everyone is supposed to understand what you're talking about? Your bass may be tuned but your sense of humor needs a pitch pipe ASAP.

No sir. I have been having a few very rough weeks with health issues, plus my only child who just graduated college left today for 2+ weeks touring Europe, and "daddy" is not at all pleased about it at this time!

I apologize for misconstruing your joke... and please, no duels; I've never been the dueling type! Wink

Neither did I. The folks at city hall would have thought that we were weird (we both took the afternoon off from work, went down to city hall, and got married there).

No self-respecting Texas gal would not know how to two step, polka, waltz (Waylon’s Amanda is the perfect tempo) and Schottische. My church did teen ballroom classes. We’ll try to forget the disco and rock club era stuff…
