The Ayr gel isn’t as good as petroleum jelly.

Right... "Vaseline".

Is that what the cool kids are calling it these days?

I was getting horrific nosebleeds ruined a few dress shirts at work. Just started gushing while sitting at my desk. Took almost 3 months tk see an ENT doc. Said we can cauterise or we you can use neosporin and saline spray. Neosporin and saline spray is what the internet said months ago and what I was doing and not really working. By the time I saw the doc the weather started getting humid and I have not had one in a month or so. We agreed we will wait till the fall and see

Vicks Vapor Rub. Been using for years, primarily during the winter months. Works great.

Be careful with vaseline and Vicks in the nostrils. Prolonged use can cause lipoid pneumonia to develop. It’s especially risky to apply it and then lie down to sleep. Believe it or not, small particles of vaseline/vapo rub can enter the lungs. The body cannot dissolve petroleum jelly in the respiratory system so accumulation can happen. Lipoid pneumonia is extremely difficult to remediate since it is not a bacteria. It is inflammation caused by a collection of oils that the lungs cannot break down.

Just an fyi from my physician.

But seriously, a little dab of chap-stick will do everything you need it to do to combat dry nose. For years, it was not uncommon for me to get a nosebleed or two during the dry months of winter. Chap-stick helps trap moisture without any adverse effects.

Oddly, after my nasal surgery, the ENT doc recommended Vaseline over saline sprays.
His logic was it keeps the tender area moist
longer while it's healing. Yeah, it was kinda'
weird stuffing that stuff up there, but it worked.

No, Vaseline for dry nostrils. I recall using Vicks when I was training to become an EMT, we had anatomy with a cadaver and a lot of us put Vicks in our nose.

Small aside, I have also used Vicks in the nostrils of stallions when there are mares in estrus around; usually saves you from dealing with an excited stud horse.

And if you don't know what it is, cephalosporins and steroids will cure it. Dermatology is easy. Big Grin

Year round, it's 35% humidity inside my house. I have three humidifiers running 24/7 except when I do I do maintenance like air-dry them every 10 days.

I still have humidifiers in every room in the house but I don't run them. I thought I could run them and saturate the house to 40% humidity and then they'll run intermittently. Did not work; they just kept running.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
