Dear AOC: It is fair to say you have now officially gained more attention than you wanted or had hoped for. Amazon called your bluff and said fuck off. Fair to say that your fellow NY politicians who actually carry the power may be somewhat unamused with you. New York Governor Cuomo blasts AOC and left-wing Democrats for 'putting political interests above community' and driving away Amazon Governor Andrew Cuomo is blaming Congress freshman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her peers for derailing Amazon's plans to create a headquarters in New York City. Amazon announced they were pulling the plug on their New York building plans on Thursday, citing a lack of cooperation between local politicians. It marked major blow for the city's mayor and governor who overcame their differences to bring the retail giant to the East Coast. Perhaps they should, but what sort of punishment/admonishment does Cuomo think he's going to be able to assign? Make the politicians pay back the city all that it spent to woo Amazon? I don't see that happening. God bless America. | |||

Does anyone know how many dollars' worth of paychecks this would've brought into Queens, and New York State generally, on an annual basis? And does anyone know how much of the "subsidies" the hippies are pissed about were simply taxes that wouldn't get charged? I'm generally leery of deals like this one, but this could be one hell of an object lesson. | |||

This is the same woman who came to Washington, D.C. worried about finding an "affordable" place to live. She found herself a place in the ritzy new "gentrified" Navy Yard community, drives a fossil-fuel powered vehicle and decries Amazon while shopping at Whole Foods. Unfortunately, the answer to this is yes. It happened to new Hampshire when liberals fred Massachusetts. It happened to Colorado when liberals fled California. It is happening to Virginia when liberals fled Maryland and also to some extent New York. It is starting to happen to Utah now that liberals are fleeing Colorado. | |||
