That really stinks about the Charger and Challenger. My son has been saving up for the Challenger.

2023 is the last year for the current generation. The replacement is going to be called a Charger and will be available in 2 or 4 door with RWD or AWD. The powertrain options will be fully EV, hybrid or twin turbo inline 6 for starters. There has been a few rumors of a next gen Hemi eventually but I really doubt it since the TTI6 will be capable of crazy power. They have a crate engine TTV6 available with 1500hp so a production engine could reasonably happen near 1000hp. It will never sound as sweet as a Hemi at full song that’s for sure. If your son was wanting a V8 he better have close to the right amount saved now or he could buy a used model.

Fighting the good fight |
Companies have to make what the customer wants. And the average car buyer out there views their cars as little more than a means to get from Point A to Point B while carrying the things they need it to. They're interested in price, reliability, and amenities over stuff like uniqueness, personality, and looks. Not to mention that the former are objective, while the latter are very much subjective and will vary wildly from person to person.

I always liked the Maxima, from the first one I got my hands on (in about '86... I set off the alarm inside the dealership). Well, until the CVT versions. I didn't know insurance companies classed it as a sports car; I think that's a little nutty. If Nissan would offer up a Maxima SE like the 5th generation version (A33, 2000-2003 or so), with that sweet VQ-series V6 and the manual transmission, I'd snap one up in a big, fat hurry. That's the best-looking Maxima produced, in my opinion. The 7th gen (A35) looked good on the outside, but was pretty dated on the inside to begin with. God bless America.

Yup, the older ones were sleeper-ish. When they went CVT...killed it IMO. The Enemy's gate is down.

Challenger looked way better than the squished Camaro, and One Thousand Freaking Horsepower!!!

I swear I had something for this |
This needed to happen with the Charger and the Challenger a long time ago. Don't forget the chassis was based on the 2002 Mercedes E-Class and has only received minor changes up to now. It's needed a redesign for quite a while.

We still own our 2006 Maxima and drive it often. VQ engine has been mostly trouble free. The 5 speed transmission had to be replaced but overall the car was well worth what we paid for it. No way was I interested in the current models with the CVT. I spent just a tad more and bought a 2024 Lexus ES 350 with a NA V6 and it doesn’t have stop/start either. So far, it’s probably the best sedan I’ve owned.

Thank you Very little |
Camaro, Challenger and Charger high HP V8's demise probably have a lot to with meeting the upcoming EPA gas mileage rules, if the EV market is drying up those 100mpg EV's won't be selling at the rate they need to make the number and avoid fines.
