Chocolate, Cheese & Airport X-Rays

Food items, like cheese or chocolate, can be mistaken by bomb-detection machines for explosives and generate a "false positive." TSA screeners will hand-search bags that register a positive reading.

I've traveled 36+ times with a firearm and no incidents. Double locked in a pelicanncase and shown to originating Airport, picked up at destination.

Why are you trying to skirt the system? Unfavorable firearms laws at destination? Just want trouble?

Do what they ask and declare the firearms. TSA rules clearly state that you must declare a firearm even if checked. Just do so and pick up at the counter when you land.

Just to show how much things have changed....I worked for a construction company out of Nebraska for many years and in 1980 I was working in South Carolina. I flew back to NE commercial for the company meeting and then the Christmas party. At the meeting there were firearm give away and I got a Winchester Model 70 30.06 (which I still have).
The day after the party several of us flew in the company plane to St Louis where we would catch our commercial flights.
I walked in the St Louis main terminal carrying the unboxed Winchester and not one person said a word to me about it and nobody even seemed alarmed.
I stood in line and checked in and the gal (who was very nice) said I would need to put the rifle in a hard case (I was expecting this) so I bought a nice one (which I still have) right over the counter for $20.00 and I got on the plane and had a good flight.
100% guarantee that this was a true event.

I declare every time I fly with a firearm. I also use the cable in the box to attach them to the inside of my suitcase.

I got back from a trip to Oregon and there was a note in my bag saying the TSA had randomly picked my bag to search.

After the "search", they put items into my bag that didn't belong to me. I went ballistic. TSA acted like it was no big deal.

Security guy's other option, instead of undeclared checked luggage is, of course, undeclared carry-it-through-security, like the illuminated soul today in Atlanta.

Yeah and I was in the terminal today when this happened. Thanks to this jack ass for screwing up the whole flight schedule of 1000s of people. I was ok, my plane was only delayed about 15 minutes. But my coworker had a 2 hour delay. What a mess, A whole place on lockdown because one total fucking idiot.

I want to see that dipshit get crucified.

When we returned from a Baltic cruise, we carried some wood carvings purchased in Russia.
Every time we went through a scanner we had to stop, open our baggage and unwrap the carvings. The scanner read the wood as plastic explosive.
The Danes were a hoot, the Brits OK and TSA were rude.
BTW we used the Global Entry Program and saved lots of time.

When I lived in Germany, I had the exact same short wave radio used in PanAm 103. That got some attention a few times.
