So it looks like this is it, no more delays here.

Already hearing about long lines at DMV's here in PA as people realize they can't fly within their own country without that or a passport as crazy and Soviet that sounds. Frown

I just had my DL renewed as non-REAL ID version a few months ago and refuse to play this REAL ID BS

I'll get my passport renewed and I have a VAHIC (VA ID card) that apparently is also accepted by the TSA so just a heads up for all you vets who use the VA

TSA reminds public of REAL ID enforcement deadline of May 7, 2025

When I needed to renew my drivers license it had to be the REAL ID type. So I gathered all kinds of obscure documents, and other crap and trotted off to the MI SOS office. Handed over my documents to the chick and.... She never even looked at them!
Renewed my license with the REAL ID star on it and it was done.
A complete and total farce! Roll Eyes

When people rely upon a thing produced, to stand in place of their own critical thinking, honed by learning and experience, they put themselves in peril.

If we can produce it, "they" can produce it.

And the people whom are tasked with "verifying" such, are the weakest link.

"In them we trust."

Teaching and instilling in our young, that the world is a place fraught with peril, and the ways and means to recognize, identify and act appropriately, would serve all better than delegating away our own liberty to do so.

Therein goes the strengthening of the walls of our own prison.

The day I found out the Biden regime was letting illegals fly all over the country with NO ID at all was the day I said screw this REAL ID crap. You want Americans to have Soviet-style internal passport travel but you'll allow that? F*CK OFF Mad

I don't think that is true. PA allows you to renew with no REAL ID option or REAL ID option and I can't believe they can compel you to get that.

In Missouri you still have a choice. The only real difference is that for the REAL ID option they scan your documents and the feds have a copy. But when I got a passport they got a copy of my birth certificate anyway, so why not take the REAL ID?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I guess commercial flight is not in your future unless you also have a passport --- which is my plan.

I'm just going to use my passport as REAL ID.

REAL ID is simply a National ID card. The template is the same from state to state, looks like a driver's license. But It's a National ID. You know, like in "Papers Please".

I don't fly, my wife doesn't fly. I can't see any reason that I need one. Not going to play their silly games.

What's crazy is I need more documentation to get a passport than I did to enter the Navy.

Same thing in Kentucky. They’ve been delaying the implementation until now, and now they force folks to go to a regional office instead of the County Clerks under the old system. People have been standing in line for 6+ hours to get the REAL ID card version.

There’s a move to let County Clerks go back to old version which isn’t REAL ID compliant. They aren’t informing folks that if you already have a US Passport or Military ID, then you don’t need a REAL ID card version.

Supposedly when the REAL ID card was started it was to show a validity-issued card. I worked for ICE (Investigations and Deportation sections) for 9 years, and the amount of fake “Green Cards” (I-551) that I came across were unbelievable.

Some of the I-551s were quite good, but easily identified as fake if you knew what to look for; but the general public didn’t know real from fake. And then the Mexican Govt started issuing the “Matricula Consular” card which just compounded the ID card problem.

It’s a real mess all around.

Tried to get it a few years ago. PA would not accept my laminated SS card and told me to get another. I didn't. I know who I am.

I got my real ID last year.

I let my passport expire and had to bring my birth certificate and a bill with my address on it in order to purchase guns and ammunition out here in California.

Oh, did I mention that I get to pay a 21% tax on my purchases…

I did mine a while ago.

My social security card was the original that was 50-plus years old but it was laminated.

They made me send for another one.

Even when they had the number in the system and it matched.

No common sense.

I have no problem with the Real ID. As scary as it sounds to say "papers please" in a German accent, I already have a social security number, a passport, a drivers license, and a CHP. My government already knows I exist.

I don't mind showing who I am to fly, and we ought to insist that everyone show who they are to vote.

Unless your military ID has INDEF for an expiration date, which seems to make it difficult to pass TSA's screening. Link
