Seems the LEO mistook a photographers camera and tripod for a weapon. Fortunately, the photographer wasn't killed. Clearly a failure on the part of both parties. The article states the photographer knew the deputy, hopes he doesn't get fired. Seems there was absolutely no threat or provocation. I do wonder what the officer is thinking now. The cop had no respect for the force continuum. Total fail. Escalation of force over a tripod? Utter Feldercarb. Frak that. If you are afraid for your life, of a camera tripod, I would encourage you to seek employment outside of the Law Enforcement vocation. Yep. Bad shoot. The video was just posted on WHIO-TX website. Cant really defend anyone's actions here. I think that there have been and will be more incidents like this going on all over the country. Why? Cops know that they are now a target far more than they have been in the past and react accordingly. Possibly more than they have ever been. Not an excuse or a justification. Just how things are now.
