I need one of these watches .
I have had one

for 12 years and it does everything I need.

My eyesight has changed and my close up vision is problematic , but they took the Glasses restriction off of my Drivers License.
( so I got that going for me)

What you are asking for requires something more like a Star Trek replicator than anything currently available.

You could 3D print some of the parts of the watch, like the strap and the case. You can't print the electronics or the buttons or the screen or the battery or the wires.

You could buy cheap, general purpose electronic components and hook them together to build a huge, clunky watch that would have terrible battery life. Including labor, that would cost hundreds of dollars if not thousands.

To design and manufacture a single device of something as refined as a $20 digital watch? Maaaaybe thousands of dollars if you can find preexisting components for everything. Probably tens or hundreds of thousands.

So, you want someone to 3D print a watch for you? What about the rest of it? The electronics and screen? a 3d printer can't just magically make anything you want....

unfortunately what they've said above, the strap and case would be easy, if not nearly as flexible. However, the LCD screen and the guts of the watch would be quite the project.

Two options - get an Apple Watch and set to large face settings.

While I haven't worn a watch in 30+ years, if I started wearing one, it would have the Nixie tube display.

They usually are more spendy than $150 unless you build it yourself.

A few years ago I built Nixie tube clocks as a hobby, The extra money helped me get my P220 fix.

I have a feeling the OP is the victim of a prank of heavy sarcasm.

I think he might have been explaining his situation to his spouse/friend/family etc and they sarcastically said, 'yeah, why don't you just have someone 3d print you one...'.


On a more serious note, watches are a buy once cry once proposition. Get one good one and it will last you a lifetime and then some.

3D printing has already had a big impact.

It makes prototyping and iterative design of mechanical parts MUCH faster and less expensive. It also brings the cost of manufacturing one-off or small-production mechanical parts WAY down.

You can see some of the stuff normal people use inexpensive consumer 3D printers to make at www.reddit.com/r/functionalprint . Some of it is pulling designs for things like pencil holders or laptop stands or whatever off of online 3D model websites (the big one is www.thingiverse.com ) and printing them. Some of it is stuff like "I broke this plastic bracket on my 15 year old refrigerator and they wanted $100 for a new one so I spent an hour making a 3D model of it and 3D printed a replacement using $2 of plastic."

There are 3D printers out there that can do more. They are either so expensive they are out of reach of hobbyists (although there are commercial service that own them and will do prints for you with them for a reasonable charge) or still very much in the "figuring out how to make it work" phase.

Expensive example: There are 3D printers that can 3D print parts out of titanium by using a powerful laser to melt very fine titanium powder together. The machines cost about $1 million. They're used for real stuff though. One example is that some places do hip replacements by using a 3D medical scan of the joint and 3D printing an exact titanium replacement.

Still "figuring out how to make it work" example: Medical researchers are starting to figure out how to use 3D printers to help create structure like blood vessels in lab-grown tissue. Eventually, this could be an important part of the process of growing replacement tissue or organs rather than having to harvest it from donors. But the process is still really rough and isn't ready for real-world use yet.

But the "a box that can produce anything that will fit inside the box" thing is still very much science fiction and nowhere remotely close to becoming a reality.

And even if you had such a box... you have to get the design to produce from somewhere.

The IN-16 tube has numerals that are 1/2 inch tall. Don't know how long the battery would last, but there are a few out there using IN-16 tubes.

The tubes I primarily used were the IN-18 (numbers are 40mm tall) from Ukraine. I thought about going to a bigger tube, but they were close to $260 each. The thought of smoking an IN-18 was bad, but if I burnt $260, then I'd have a problem. Kept the IN-18s at 174.5 VDC as measured with the tube providing the load (got a fancy voltmeter that doesn't statistically load a circuit when taking measurements). Then it never left the socket once dialed in.

Every time I sold one I kept a simple note why I didn't include a power supply, and that the buyer could be killed if they took it apart.
