Guys, I would appreciate feedback on refrigerator brands. Here are my parameters:

36" wide
Stainless steel
prefer the ice and water dispenser in the door.
It looks like the budget is going to be in the $3,000 to $3,500 range, based on what I am seeing online.

We have an 11 year-old Kitchenaid, but have been unhappy with it since day one. It isn't the brand it once was.

I am looking at Bosch, based on a recommendation, and I have just seen Fisher-Paykel (never heard of it before). I open to any and all brands that fit the above parameters.

Thanks in advance!

I literally just bought a GE stainless side by side when our 2003 Kitchen Aid just finally got too troublesome to bother with anymore.

It's got door water and ice, but the ice maker is in the freezer and not a micro in the door like the more expensive ones are.

It was $1700 out the door at our local Brandsmart.

My door is only 30" and It just did fit when I removed the doors and catches off it.

The doors remove very easy and the water line and electric are designed for easy removal. It was stupid easy to level with my electric drill and a bubble level.

Stick with Whirlpool or Maytag. GE sold their appliance division to the Chinese a few years ago.

The appliances division of GE was purchased by the Chinese-owned Haier company in 2016. Four years prior, the same company acquired the New Zealand appliance maker, Fisher & Paykel.

We had two smaller Haier refrigerators at work they did not even last 5 years.

A 2nd hand GE replaced out Frigidaire last year.
Our garage fridge is a KitchenAid that's been going strong since 2011.

Sold the Frigidaire as dead on craigslist for $50.
Lady that bought it emailed me afterward & got her home warranty to cover it & it had a dead control board.

If I were shopping new, I'd look at Whirlpool & KitchenAid. Those seem to be the typical leading recommendations when these threads come up.

IIRC, they were among the recommended brands by our resident appliance expert, as well.
Included Amana & a 4th that I can't remember that are under the same umbrella as Whirlpool & KA.

The Enemy's gate is down.

We bought a new refrigerator, and an electric stove
seven years ago. Both are GE, and have been working great.

Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, and Kitchenaid are all the same company. Those are generally the brands to stick with. However, the OP stated that he's unhappy with Kitchenaid, so he may not want another from that same overall company...

We just bought a new Bosch dishwasher, and we’re happy with it. While we were buying the dishwasher, we looked at refrigerators, anticipating that as our next purchase. The one we have now is a Frigidare, and there are a couple of things about it we don’t like (especially the ice maker/dispenser). My wife has already informed me that she wants a Bosch fridge and I won’t try to talk her out of it.

Our Bosch fridge sucks. We bought it 3 years ago. It freezes any items in the back of the fridge. The buttons for ice and water are difficult to get to work. The doors don’t close well. French door model. If you push one door closed it forces the other door open.

We have all Bosch appliances and apart from the dishwasher they all suck.

These go to eleven.

Perhaps I need to rethink this:

The only time I've ever seen that name was for CPAP machines and masks...

Had no idea they made fridges

We have a GE Cafe series fridge on order, in-laws brought a GE Profile last year (one step down from Cafe) and are happy with it so far. They are manufactured in Kentucky so the lead times are much better than something coming from overseas.

And your point was...?

They are still manufactured in Kentucky

Got a whirlpool around a year ago. Been great.

Ice in the door as cubes or crushed, you pick and water.

Freezer at the bottom. Tons of room to put stuff.

5 years on our USA made (with global parts) Whirlpool and it has been flawless. I try and buy from a local appliance center that services that brand. It has worked out pretty good over the years on our appliance purchases.

Our Samsung was nice…until it started going south. Lasted for 8 years, but nobody will service it now.

We replaced it with Whirlpool and ended up replacing the entire kitchen set. Not cheap, but nice stuff and we know it can be serviced.

I heard stay away from Samsung, so I bought a Maytag range and fridge. Both have had to have work. So I just don't know what to recommend.
