Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
Saying good bye to the best dog ever in just a couple hours. Writing this now as I have a full afternoon and remainder of week. The timing for this absolutely sucks but when it is time it is time. Sheila would have been 16 years old on Friday 9/30, that is up there for an Aussie. She came to me at 6 weeks old and has been my constant companion and confidant ever since. Absolute embodiment of the term "Velcro Dog", always by my side, in my bed, on my lap, or at my feet. I was happy and sad when she turned 15 last year. Happy she made it and sad it would probably be her last birthday. She almost proved me wrong. For a few years now she has been having more and more issues. Hips stiffening, eyesight going, hearing going, kidney problems, occasional seizures, recurring bladder infections. The past 3 months or so all of those things seem to be accelerating. Can't go down stairs anymore without assistance, frequently stumbles going up stairs, needs help getting to standing position from laying down, loses balance and stumbles while going potty. I knew this day was coming, I've been dreading it for a while. Part of what makes it so hard is once she is up and moving, you'd never know the problems she has. I hate to admit it but there have been times I just asked the Lord to take her in her sleep so I wouldn't have to do the hard part. A vet will be coming to our home in a bit and will send her off to the bridge in comfortable surroundings while in my arms. We had a great day yesterday, shared a 1.5 lb Angus Prime rib-eye steak for dinner, went and saw "Grandma" (my mother in law) for a visit, got our picture taken together by a good friend and I slept by her side on the floor in my room. I tossed the ball for her a few times, first time in awhile as she hasn't been real active the past few years. Her eyes did light up and she chased it, but once she got to it she looked at it and walked back to me. Tennis ball chasing used to be her favorite thing in the world and she would literally run herself sick if allowed. She had bacon and cheese omelet for breakfast and extra treats. We then took our final walk together where she was allowed to take all the time she wanted sniffing everything that she needed to sniff. She has spent most the rest of the morning out in the backyard barking at the neighbor dogs and trotting around. That is unusual for her, usually she'll only go outside if I am or she has business to do. So many years of memories that seemed to have gone by too fast. I'm pretty much a basket case, so gonna stop now and just post some pics Sheila Marie aka "Fuzzy Butt", "Fur Face", "Crazy Face", "Psycho", "Princess Wiggle Butt", and more 9/30/2006 - 9/27/2022 What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

So sorry for you boss. Takes a huge heart to do the right thing. As the queen said, grief is the price we pay for love. What you're going through has to be the most difficult thing to do in our life, my heartfelt condolences to you. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I am sorry. She is a lovely dog. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

I’m so sorry to hear it, man. It’s truly one of the hardest things. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

very sorry Boss. Our Aussie was our first pup. He would not smile at me, but my wife. He would get a big grin on when she would come home. He was a real piece of work and I still miss him many years later. In the last year we lost our Australian cattle dog she was 16. She was the great dog. She looks like a great pup and sounds like she really loves you. Give it a few days. You will need a few. Best wishes. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

Gone but Together Again. Dad & Uncle |
Sheila is a beautiful dog and quite incredibly sounds like many of our prior dogs and especially so our current dog - Ollie. May she have a blessed journey to the end of the Rainbow Bridge. Our prior dogs; Bud, Wendy, Gretchen, Macie, and Jacks will welcome her while they all wait for us to join them so we can cross the bridge together.
