This is my Dad. 63 years old, and 45 years behind on retirement planning. I could tell this man all day long what I think he should do with what little he has to work with, but here he is, Heading out to visit two very young children and their young mom to deliver gifts as their dad and her husband, unexpectedly passed away. Gifts he was partially in on for people he knew little about. I can tell you from experience he doesn’t have it, but he did it anyway for a couple reasons already mentioned; a happy memory this family needs & a blessing they never saw coming. So some people with more money than they can spend gave it away with either good intentions, all the right motivation (based on their own lives) or weaseled a tax write off somehow. Point being, WGAF. Someone’s life was changed along the way, whether it be the recipient or the one with the stacks. There’s still good left out there. Embrace it. It’s all some people have. Bless your pops and bless you for watching out for him. Some peoples reward is not in this life, but what hopefully comes after. Peace be upon you and your family. "And I think about my loves, well I've had a few. Well,I'm sorry that I hurt them, did I hurt you too" I Was Wrong--Social D.

Just in case there’s any lingering questions as to “why”. These are the kiddos and their mother last night when Jolly Saint Kev dropped in. Isaiah 54:17 - No weapon formed against us shall prosper.... What do I want? A time machine. When do I want it? Irrelevant.

Wow KHolm, I never use the term "heart warming" but your post and pic fall into that category.

Too old to run, too mean to quit! |
I absolutely can not find anything wrong with paying off some lay-away accounts to help people. Nor can I find anything wrong with doing individual acts of kindness! While stationed in Germany, many years ago now, our company decided to "adopt" the kids in an orphanage in Frankfurt. We had "functions" to accumulate enough money so that every kid there, and the staff, all got some kind of gift. Where we could we got them what they said they wanted. Had a big Christmas party for the kids and staff, and later in that spring we arranged for buses, food, etc to take them out to a wooded area for a day long trip/picnic in the woods. Never saw any happier kids, or the guys who were escorts, etc. So, for the scrooges who think such things as paying off layaway charges, etc, for Christmas. Sorry, but do not understand the attitude. Elk There has never been an occasion where a people gave up their weapons in the interest of peace that didn't end in their massacre. (Louis L'Amour) "To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.
