I have a row of evergreens all the way down my drive, roughly 75 yards worth. Over the years, they've grown out over the drive enough to interfere with pick-up sized vehicles or larger.

I trimmed them all up to about 10 feet where they overhang the drive. The whole project took maybe 15 minutes and didn't even use one bar on the battery.

My old corded unit will be going on C-List. No extension cords to scrounge up and haul around, lighter and better balanced.

That's great, I have the EGO version, and the extension, it can be a handfull fully extended but with a nice sharp chain it cuts stuff easily.

In fact, I think it creates bigger piles of cut limbs on purpose because I can't stop cutting things down LOL

I'm not a climate nut trying to save the solar system w/ battery power but if it means I don't have to mix and store 2-cycle fuel, you have my attention.
I was really impressed w/ the charge longevity on my EGO weed whip. I mentioned before I went 2 Michigan seasons w/ one charge using it every other time I cut the lawn.
Not a lot of trimming but I was at least expecting the charge to drain over time.

I'm convinced that DeWalt vs. Milwaukee is a wash. It's all about what battery you're invested in. Happens I have a raft of Milwaukee batteries and chargers.

PH, I didn't mean to say DeWalt is any better...just that I like battery freedom. As you said, I went down the DeWalt road and that what I stuck with. I've used a lot of Milwaukee tools and loved them.

You'd have needed 225 feet of extension cord?

Didn't take it that way. Just recognizing that one is as good as the other. Same-same as the Ford/Chevy "debate". Big Grin

Something like that. I know my 100-footer wouldn't get the job done.

Wait until you find out there are adapters that let you use one’s battery in another’s tool.

My Milwaukee M18 power tools have all worked good for the last 5 years. I have power tools and lawn care products.
Unfortunately, in the last year or so the Milwaukee battery s have been giving very short service even when fully charged. I have an assortment of battery sizes up to 12amp. I used to be able to go out and do almost my entire yard with just the 12amp battery and my string trimmer. Now I need to carry all my batteries to do the same size area.
Apparently there is a problem with the Milwaukee BMS on the batteries that is a known issue.

If I were starting over I would go Dewalt simply for there batterys.
The batterys are the most expensive part of the system.

I wonder how much of that has been funded by the tool manufacturers to keep you in their ecosystem. Wink

I have adapters that allow me to use Milwakee batteries in my Dewalt tools. Never had an issue.

Nice tool. I have the Milwaukee M18 Fuel String Trimmer with detachable string trimmer head. I also have the hedge trimmer attachment for the power head. I believe there is a pole chain saw attachment that will work with my set-up, but I don't need the pole saw at this time. It's just about time to trim hedges at my home here in Michigan.

Best regards,

We have an older Ryobi 40 volt battery pole saw. My Stihl gasoline version hasn't run in years now. The battery tool does almost as much work, without hassle, and without killing my back.

Unless you are a mechanic or plumber by trade. Then the Milwaukee tool selection makes it a no-brainer.

Haven't really looked at DeWalt's array of tools, but I do know Milwaukee has a crapload of them!

Partly out of curiosity and partly for insurance purposes, I made a list of all the Milwaukee stuff I have including spare batteries and looked up replacement costs.

GAS-puh!

I have one of those in DeWalt 20v which replaced my manual pole saw. The first time i used it i was kicking myself for sticking with the manual one for so long.

I went DeWalt years ago but if I was starting out today I think I would go Milwaukee. Not because of quality, I think they’re both up there, but because Milwaukee seems to have more gadgets.
