While it is against the law to lie to the FBI or threaten a President, it is apparently OK to attempt to bribe a US senator. I base this on the fact that Rosie O'donnell, who reportedly offered two senators, two million dollars each to vote against the tax bill is still walking around free.

I read an article over the weekends about Twitter reversing a previous decision and deleting some of Rosie's tweets after Ben Shapiro called them out on their double standards. Entertaining if nothing else ---------- The first 100 people to make it out alive...get to live.

Is she doing all this from overseas? I seem to recall something about her leaving the USA if Trump got elected. So, she offered them $2M as a bribe. Did they take it? I assume most Congress critters are tempted to take bribes. It's only a crime if you actually do it. For all we know, these two senators could have thrown her out of their offices. If they accepted the bribe, prosecute them. Don't feed the hysteria. P229

You offer a senator a bribe and if they report it, see how long it takes before you get a knock on your door.

What constitutes a bribe from a legal standpoint? Bribery is defined by Black's Law Dictionary as the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in charge of a public or legal duty. ... The bribe is the gift bestowed to influence the recipient's conduct.

This is the issue in the Menendez case which was recently tried to a mistrial. While that is Black’s Law dictionary definition, the federal statue is a bit more complex. Here are the elements: Link The problem in Menendez, as I presently understand it, is evidence of an official act. A vote obviously is an official act, constituent services much less so. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

^^^^^^ Hi JALLEN, Am I missing something? Unless I misread what you posted, I’d think Rosie’s post met that standard. Should we all be wetting our pants and wringing our hands because Mr. Sessions doesn’t have someone slapping cuffs on her? Curious...

Even if they get caught! Was it Nasty Pelozzi that said it was OK to violate some specific law (accepting bribes?) but they had a congressional rule that said it was OK? News stories aren’t always synonymous with evidence exactly. I don’t believe anyone will prosecute. No Senator acted in it, at least as far as news reports reveal. Maybe it is similar to telling a woman, “I’ll give you $1 million to sleep with me.” Are you soliciting prostitution? Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way.
