I might have to start watching sports again just so I can quit out of outrage.

Haven't gone out of my way to watch a football game in a couple of decades and haven't watched or attended a superbowl party in maybe 5 years.

Every thread about cutting cable/dish there are multiple people posting that they would love to but they need to watch their sports. Paying $100 a month to watch a bunch of America hating thugs nearly brawl on a field is absurd. On top of that most to all of a team isn't even from the local area, what the heck are you supporting?

Which is why I refer to it as the "watching sports addiction."

It'll be interesting to see what happens if "cord-cutting" continues at the pace it has. I've mentioned this before, but what will the watching sports addicts do when ESPN alone ends-up costing $20-$36/mo. as an independent streaming service? Will enough of them be willing to pony-up that kind of money to keep ESPN afloat?

Here's the difference between enjoying entertainment and being addicted to it. Disney has announced they're not going to renew their agreement with Netflix. They're going to start their own streaming service. I'll miss the Disney content on Netflix, but I'm not going to pay another $10/mo. or whatever just for that. So it'll be bye-bye Disney for us.

Hyperbole, I'm sure. I still think we should remove their citizenship though. They can still live and work here with a green card and jumping all of those hoops. Give their citizenship to someone who appreciates it.

I just like to watch football. It's entertaining. There are over a thousand football players in the NFL so you are going to get a mixed bag of great people and terrible people with everything in between. Such is life.

Removing someone's citizenship for expressing freedoms no matter how stupid is the least American thing to do. I think whining about what a bunch of assholes with numbers on their backs do or don't do is weak in every sense of the word. Let's leave being overally offended by nonsense to the liberals.

Bahahahahhaahahahahahahahahahahah!

I watch it because I want to and I would prefer a direct streaming service for NFL only, like HBO and Showtime have.

I think killing them for such would be the least American thing to do, but I get your point. It was tounge-in-cheek. We'd only need to do it a few times anyway......Big Grin

So, who won?

I don't bother to watch any NFL games.

Yep. I'm not turning off my Skins, not gonna happen. In a show of solidarity with you guys, I will give up all AFC games, and all non NFC East games without playoff implications. I figure that's the least I can do.

Better give up your guns, you know, as a show of respect for human life.

It's OK. We know you're an addict, unable to change. Bless your heart for struggling to be a better person.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Choose life! I'll pray for you.

Now that we are done being silly. FUCK THOSE GUYS. And grid iron football is as American as the M16. Make em see.

I don't understand how people can get so into a game where it has so little impact on their life. That's assuming you don't make a living related to these sports.

If pro sports all disappeared, I think I'd be fine.

But what about crochet and cross word puzzles? You sound like you'd shit a chicken if we took those away.

I am not an expert on TV contracts by any means, but in my area the Orioles created MASN (mid-atlantic sports network) to exclusively broadcast Orioles and Nationals games. As a result, EVERY cable subscriber in this area was charged an extra 3 or 4 bucks on their cable bills. I know in Boston it's NESN and Yankees have YES, amongst others. This is essentially pay-per-view, in a roundabout way.

I am surprised the NFL hasn't explored something similar. I know there's a shit ton more baseball games, but you would think they could have something like an "AFC North network" to show just AFCN games. Or some kind of premium station outside of the god awful NFL Network. Personally I would pay extra for a network like that and I would pay extra to avoid the same stupid commercials and "TV time outs."

Um... not all of them.
For example, John Urschel.

Now, back on topic: I think being respectful during the playing of the National Anthem should be a condition of employment for these guys (and many others). As others have said, if you're not happy here or don't like the U.S., then you're free to leave.

God bless America.

Stop it. Just stop it. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule, but finding one or two of these clowns with an IQ above room temp says little to nothing about the group as a whole. Overwhelmingly these knuckle draggers are the lowest common denominator of American society. And given where they come from, their upbringing (or lack thereof), and their focus on life, how could they not be.

And for the record, I actually expect retarded behavior out of the clowns on the field. What infuriates me is the team owners who are not illiterate, or thugs, or morons, who are making a calculated decision to essentially sit the sidelines on the issue to make sure their PC scorecard is properly filled out.

I watched very little NFL football before Crapernick started this nonsense, and now I have a reason to purposely avoid it all together.
