2. Backcountry Hiking. Hikes into the backcountry (more than a day walk into the wood) require an additional skillset.

We don't have to worry about that. They will be camping, but returning each night to the car and campsite.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

UPDATE:
So far they have hiked Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion. They are doing well and I think having a great time. The only issue so far has been a stomach issue (irritable bowel) for which she was able to call home, get a prescription from her doctor, and fill in one of the small towns.

The camping seems to be going fine also. They did have to wait 3 hours for a campsite at one of the places but she says it was worth it as they got a peaceful riverside campsite. They did go into one of the towns for showers and such in between a couple of the parks.

I'm glad she is doing this trip.
Here are a couple of the pics sent home. My daughter is the shorter of the two.

Nice photos. I am jealous of their trip.

Awesome photos Smile Looks like she's having a great time building life long memories.

As a father, I can appreciate the concerns you have. Funny what a text message can do to alleviate those concerns. My daughter will be studying abroad next year for a semester in Belgium.

Thanks, and Yep... I'm sure you too will worry a bit when she goes to Belgium.

Here's another. They started this hike at the bottom, on the road you can see below her right foot.

We live our lives to protect and raise our kids then let them go...even to have them join themselves to another person they will love more than you.
She is growing...and so are you.
What a great, great experience for her.
God bless you and your family, MarkMatt.

Stan

Thanks, Stan. Same to you and your family.
I meant to email you before I went out to California in March... you owe me a beer. Smile
But... the trip went by so fast I guess it wouldn't have happened anyway.
Matt

It looks like she is wearing out those boots. Good for them. I hope more pics are coming from their adventure.

Did you raise a SNOWFLAKE???

She is a Junior in COLLEGE which should put her around 21 years old. Quit being super overprotective and let her go on her road trip. You sound like she is flying to Zimbabwe and doing a safari

Looks like she's having a great time. Don't know how long the trip is going to last but have her keep an eye on the weather; by mid-next week forecast is for snow again at elevation (i,e., Bryce Canyon area)...perhaps they can do some lower elevation stuff and only get rained on. If rain is in the forecast, put off the hikes in any slot canyons until the weather clears.
If they need a bail-out or a place to dry stuff off, we can host them in Ogden for a bit (likely a bit too far out of the way, but the offer stands).
S.

Thank you, sorenson, for that generous offer, but it won't be necessary.
Yep, they are having a great time... but not for too much longer. I think they will be headed back to Tulsa later this week.

They made it back to Show Low, AZ last night and they are on the way to Tulsa, OK today. I think they had a great time. I asked her how her feet held up and she said "110%". She will be home by the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing the cliff climber.
