Look for a cabinet supply place. Maybe even a cabinet shop.

That place that used to be on Hemphill? I went one day just to see, they had a purpleheart stump that I wanted oh so bad. Not sure what for...but, I did. I didn’t ask the price. I just sighed and walked away. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844

This really depends on the nature of the project. If all you need is some softwood 2x4's and a piece of common 3/4" plywood almost anywhere will work. Yes you will have to look through the inventory to find something that is OK especially at the big box stores, but it will be there. But those pieces are completely standardized in terms of grading so they will only have the lowest grades. So you need to ask what kind of 2x4? What kind of plywood? Both of these have complete grading systems that define the product at least in commercially available stuff. Exotic woods are another world. But for commercial stuff for example in plywood you can have stuff you find at lowes and most lumber yards. Or you can go to specialty shops that have species and grades that are completely different (and expensive). Here's the shop I use so you get an idea. http://atlanticplywood.com/products.php If you got look at the plywood section you will see lots of information. But these are specialty pieces for specific uses. Same for every other piece of lumber. If you actually need a hardwood piece that is a real 2x4 there is a specialty wood store to get it. If what you want is not the common stuff just go to lumber yards in the area and ask them what it is you want and if they don't have it they will know where to get it. Real lumberyards not lowes. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
