Last time I got drunk to "forget as shitty day" was about four years ago. It took me about sixty two years to figure out that drowning a shitty day makes the next day even shittier and all the problems are still there. Once I figured that out I also figured out that buzzed was not fun. I know, I am a very slow learner.

Never but 1991 for a general drunk. Don't drink much to speak of anymore and don't expect I'll ever tie on one again, I don't like the feeling.

Getting drunk is far behind me at this point- back in college if I’m not mistaken. Now I might drink a handful of beers spread out over an entire year.

Last Friday, this Friday, and then again next Friday. Not piss myself drunk, but pretty much weekly with a few IPA’s and a bourbon night cap.

Same here. Drowning a bad day in alcohol sounds problematic to me.

I've only been truly drunk (stumbling, room spinning, feeling giddy, etc.) 3-4 times in my life, all of which were in my early 20s. I dislike the feeling of being drunk, and especially the hungover feeling the next day.

That said, I do enjoy high quality beer. I'll have 2-3 good beers once a week or so, while hanging out with friends. But not to the point of being noticeably inebriated.

Like getting hammered? Probably in my mid 20s. I'm to old now. If I have a few drinks I just get tired and go to bed. LOL...

I've got the same story as Para. Same time frame too. The only difference is I ended up getting married to the girl several years later.

Bad day? Never. But many times in college because of a good day or so. (late 60's to early 70's) After graduating I decided it was time to grow up and left getting drunk behind me.

Never been drunk. Don't plan to start now. I've tried alcohol, never much cared for it, and don't see the benefit that it would offer in my life. Plus, these days healthy kidneys and liver are covering for my defective pancreas, so I'm not going to consume anything that puts that at risk. I haven't drunk anything besides water and the occasional tea (when I'm sick) in over two years.

New Year's Eve 2018/2019 I think was the last binge. Last day at work, and I celebrated (so it may not count). First time was more memorable; 1992, I was 31 and working in a hostile environment. Stopped at the adult beverage store, came home and turned on the TV then my newfound friend George Dickel and I talked until dawn.

Never. I don't typically drink alcohol, anyway, and I manage to conquer my mental lapses and disappointments without medication.

There was one time early in my USAF career when, as a new "butterbar" living as the only officer atop a mountain with a lot of enlisted troops, I would go to the NCO Club for a snack. NCOs and the civilian workers there often tried to get me intoxicated, but my ability to taste alcohol usually worked to prevent that from happening. On one occasion, however, one of the radar tech-reps asked me to try a rum and Coke, which I did. The rum was strong and I only drank a little of it. He then brought me a Coke that had vodka in it (unknown to me). The rum had dulled my sniffer and I'm told after finishing that glass that I'd become a little tipsy. I vowed to never let that happen again. That was 1960. (BTW, grapefruit has the same effect as rum in disguising other alcohol.)

There are a limited few alcoholic drinks I will, if the circumstances are right, imbibe, but they are done over a long time period and don't put me in any danger of intoxication. I don't need the effects of alcohol to be silly--it sometimes comes naturally.

About 2 yrs ago. Buried two good friends and we sat around telling fond & funny stories and over indulging.
Too many stories were told & too many drinks were had.

Never tied one on over a shitty day. Getting blotto was always overindulging while having fun. As a young man I always assumed I'd go on a bender when my dad died. He died when I was 24 and having a drink never crossed my mind. There was simply too much to be responsible for to spend any amount of time drunk and useless.

Word. The most I’ve done is one or two after a shitty day to relax.

I've had some drinks after a bad day, but never enough to be considered drunk. That's more likely if I've had a good day.

I quit drinking in April 2020, so probably the first few months of 2020.
