What truly appalls me is the nature of the weapons has absolutely NOTHING to do with the crime or the body count.
This ass hat poses as a Mountie and proceeds to basically ambush EVERYONE he murdered. There are no gunfights, no mag dumps into crowds, absolutely nothing the anti-gun crowds claim "assault weapons" are good for. The entire spree took half a damn day (or night, to be accurate) to unfold.
The shitbag could have used a revolver, pump-action shotgun, a lever-action rifle and been just as "effective"...NONE of which are affected by PM Trudeau's ban.
Trudeau is using the emotional impact of the event to turn thousands of Canadians into criminals.

From the OP article
quote:
There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada," Trudeau said in a briefing where he announced the decision.
I haven't followed the Nova Scotia shooting closely enough to know if the killer's motivation has been determined...but I can't help but wonder, as the attack occurred during a global pandemic, if that was a factor in the mental state of the killer...
...and, it would be interesting to know if gun sales have spiked in Canada the way they have in the U.S.
Despite Trudeau's statement, Canadians may indeed see a need for such firearms, especially in the current climate, or perhaps, in preparation for future crises.
Many elected leaders are only all to willing to exploit the current pandemic to further their agendas...but they best take note that an electorate, already mentally exhausted from the pandemic and more likely to prep for future emergencies, may not take too kindly to government interference with their expectation and right to personal defense.

Hey, quit muddying the water with facts...it hinders the agenda.
The impersonating a LEO, including the vehicle, was a much bigger factor than firearms used...and they're tapdancing around how to spin that...

Never let a crisis go to waste.
Why do you think they're keeping the firearms used under wraps? It doesn't fit their agenda. You can bet if he only used an AR, it would be headline news for weeks.
But now, with many facts/details still being held back, they can advance their agenda...and once passed, it'll be vastly harder to roll back/over turn, regardless of what actually happened in the incident.
Just get it passed...then nearly impossible to get off the books.

As much as I dislike Trudeau and his government, Canadians have as much to blame for re-electing this human turd. Yet again the same parts of Canada (ie.,eastern Canada, large urban areas) voted him in despite several scandals. His re-election campaign called for the prohibition of so called “assault weapons “, so people definitely knew what they were voting for. Plus the general ignorance of the average citizen on the matters of firearm knowledge sealed the deal when this ban came into effect. It’s no wonder that this ex drama teacher could make such an eloquent and impassioned argument to implement this ban. All I can say to my American friends is don’t ever let up defending your 2A rights.

Agreed...but don't forget there is a multi-state movement, the National Popular Vote, to circumvent the safeguard that the Electoral College provides. The Colorado legislature crafted a bill, and the Governor signed it into law, committing Colorado's EC votes to the NPV multi-state pact, once it reaches the required number of state who join. There are some movements pushing for a total elimination of the EC...so we need to be on guard for the Left's attempt to bypass this Constitutional safeguard.

This 'National Popular Vote' end-around maneuver on the Constitution seems to be 'a thing' in Blue States only! It'll never fly in Red states, but could be an issue if it gets passed in a few swing/purple states at some point!

Like everything else Justine has done here it's all just useless virtue signalling. He stated "you don't need an AR15 to take down a deer". Forgetting I guess that they have only been allowed to be shot at a range since 1979. The "justice" minister stated that there was no reason to have an AR15 for target practice except the Canadian Govt has issued transport permits to take these rifles to ranges for 30 years. Also these rifles that have no place in hunting are not banned for Natives who can still use them for hunting!

Many of the firearms that were claimed to be unsuitable for hunting were given exemptions for First Nation Canadians so they could continue to use them for hunting, a clear violation of Canada's constitution. Apparently the Mini 14 and Mini 30 are very popular hunting rifles on reserves. So in two years after the "amnesty" you can bet the RCMP will be banging on doors to confiscate firearms but you can also bet that there will be no political will to go onto reserves to do the same.

Now expanded to handguns............
Government tables bill to limit handguns, pledges to buy back assault-style weapons
New gun control legislation the federal government tabled today includes a national freeze on the purchase, sale, importation and transfer of handguns in Canada.
The government also is pledging to start buying back thousands of banned assault-style weapons before the end of the year.
While the proposal falls short of a full ban on handguns, it would effectively limit their number in Canada.
"In other words, we're capping the market for handguns," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a press conference Monday.
"As we see gun violence continue to rise, it is our duty to keep taking action."
The only common sense with respect to firearms in this country was covered and explained a long time ago. It is called the Second Amendment! No "adjustments, suggestions" to modify it are illegal. I find it depressing that so many idiots in this country don't know what, "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" means.
