Yup, As ever, ban the gun and not the person who used it.

Oh wait, the person who used these illegally-acquired guns is dead, Jim.

Never mind, let's take it out on the LEGAL owners instead.

Just as happened here in yUK - twice.

Shoot, I just noticed my post count has passed 10,000.

Can't offer any of you a karma kind of thing, since you've all got everything you could ever want, and you wouldn't want anything that I could give you.

Except, maybe, my deepest and heartfeltest thanks for putting up with me all these years, and I really do mean that.

Seriously, how does this change anything in Canada? I thought they had already made them illegal.

When I drove the ALCAN I had to submit paperwork for the firearms that I brought across the border. Traditional rifles and shotguns were allowed and just had to be declared. Handguns were listed as, "Restricted" and I had to apply in advance for a permit to transport. Then there was a whole list of, "Prohibited". Basically anything that held more than 10 rounds, assault rifles and handguns with a barrel less than 4.1".

America has little they can say about it. We just adopted the “if it saves one life” nation wide and applauded while the Constitution was stomped on.

The same mentality of gun control is on a nationwide level here right now. Extreme situations require extreme measures and whatnot.

If we have policies and actions that are debatable but still adhere to the spirit and intent of the constitution, then that's perhaps expected behavior of the nation.

If we have parts of the population that actively work to deprecate the constitution, how is that not considered coup behavior? In the end, we end up with a different country governed under different rules and tenets as prescribed by the original constitution.

Seems like civil war is the trend unless the left comes back in-line. We can't have 2 kings in 1 country.

That is sad but when you have a country who has a certain narrative to set, this happens and the left wants that here. It's too bad that the people can't vote out his security staff and say/vote they can't have any arms listed for defense of him. All for thee, none for me.

I have spent a lot of time(off and on over five decades) in Canaduh, from B.C. to Quebec and all of the provinces in between. It is blessed with an awesome landscape, regrettably I found the following un-attributable quote to be quite succinct and to the point:

"Without its proximity to the US, Canada would just be a 'cold Guatemala'."

From what little I've read about this, it looks like Trudeau made it law all by himself. You know, like a dictator.

I'm guessing that was quite a while ago. We had a similar ban happen in the early 90's, however the list was never updated. So any newly released firearms that met the requirements were classified as 'non-restricted'. This updated list is to "fix" that. So my Sig 552 will now be a prohibited firearm Frown

All I can say is in the USA, don't give an inch. There are parts of Canadian firearms law that I think are 'common sense', but it ALWAYS leads to more, and eventually confiscation/prohibition. Keep fighting for your 2A folks, and don't give a bloody inch.

Tac I think many would agree with me that although we don’t always see eye to eye we enjoy your point of view from the other side of the pond.

The only common sense with respect to firearms in this country was covered and explained a long time ago. It is called the Second Amendment! No "adjustments, suggestions" to modify it are illegal. I find it depressing that so many idiots in this country don't know what, "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" means.

If anyone wants a laugh have a read through the prohibitions: http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr.../sor-dors96-eng.html

It's obvious there are a bunch of bureaucrats that know nothing about firearms drafting this stuff. By the way Javelin and TOW missile launchers are now prohibited as firearms. So are WWII anti tank rifles and a list of mortars and RPGs. In fact they have added so many non firearms to the list it's questionable why they called it a firearms act.
Shitty legislation drafted by idiots meant to reduce crime but essentially just punishing gun owners for living.
