We were trying to buy a new Bosch dishwasher, and the salesmen tells us they have been on backorder for some customers since March, and doesnt look like they will get any until June. WTF?
I guess they are that good? They are blaming COVID of course

Yep. Most appliances are in short supply. Same with many building supplies and electronics.
Demand hasn't changed, but the supply of both raw materials/parts as well as finished units has been severely slowed by various shutdowns or slowdowns around the world related to the virus. Supply chains are convoluted creatures, and disruptions at various points along the chain cause potentially big ripple effects towards the end.
Also, many factories have consolidated their production to a fewer number of models. So rather than being faced with making small amounts of everything they offer, they can try to achieve near-full production of a smaller number of their best selling models. Therefore, you might see if there's a similar model of dishwasher that is more readily available. There's a chance they may have just cut back on production of that specific model in particular.
Supply issues are hitting all industries. I’m in biotech. Our suppliers are saying unless we are working on Covid our supply chain is at risk. Our clinical trials are at risk of delay right now.
Anyhow my Bosch dishwasher is okay but my other Bosch appliances suck and I wouldn’t recommend them.
These go to eleven.

Yes. I have a friend here in Florida who is trying to buy one also, and he has been told the same thing.

Bosch streamlined their selection last year to keep up with demand. Most of the other manufacturers did as well. It seems like we are on allocation. We have open orders for most models available. We get partial orders and they are sold in a few days. If I ordered a 800 or 500 series today they say 8 to 10 weeks. If you want a Bosch, order one from one of local guys. The price is generally the same, service will probably be better than a big box. Get in line, they will probably deliver first to paid orders as stock is shipped on outstanding purchase orders. You probably would not have to wait as long. Forget about colors except for stainless.

Bosch makes their own dishwashers in New Bern, North Carolina and in Germany. I think Midea makes some of the Fridges.

My in-laws are gutting their kitchen this month and getting a brand new one done and they’ve had trouble finding a matched set of appliances that works for them. Seems to be happening all over.

Couple weeks ago, I installed my first and last Bosch. Might have just been the job, but it was a nightmare. Designed so differently than most, with no access from the front! Won't do it again!!

Appliances are hard to come by now especially if you want something specific. A good friend works for a new home builder. Applanaces have become a big issue. They normally get them from one of the big names and have to use those per an agreement but can't get them from them. It's caused issues with getting homes closed. They have been going to Best Buy and getting them when they can. Best Buy seems to be the best place to get what they need.
FWIW these are not Bosch appliances but another brand name. The shorage seems to be affecting all manufacturers.

I got a new electric stove and new dishwasher around 5 months ago. Walked in Spencers, saw the one I'd found on their website, paid for it and had it delivered/installed the next day.
My wife has been furniture shopping this last month . It used to be if you want that chair / couch in a different color or fabric we'll order it for you . Take about two weeks ... Try 5-6 months now .

We just bought a Kitchenaid and are very happy with it so far. I couldn't find a Bosch in stock anywhere and didn't want to wait any longer. Our last dishwasher was a Bosch. We got 8 years out of it. I'd have bought another if I could have found one.
