That is a great pistol. I notice they all carry three spare magazines in a safariland open top carrier.

Do they still do a march on graduation day kind of in a X pattern at the flag pole at the Academy?
Kind of hard to explain but what a sight to see with all the Officers marching.

Sorry for all the questions I’ll try to slow down

Congratulations to him & his family. A residential academy is a challenge not just for the recruit but his loved ones.

Outstanding Work!

We had a commencement ceremony at the local university 1/4 mile away
We drove up to the academy and they marched in the X pattern you mentioned
They also marched in to the hall at graduation to a cadence call
Not quite as impressive as Parris Island, but it was a much smaller group
It was very well done though

That young man looks squared away! Congrats to C R Carter on his achievement(s), and all those that are justifiably proud of him! Smile

Congrats!! We have a State Patrol Academy that is 22 weeks and the city officers or deputy sheriffs go to the same place for 16 weeks. Same building different classrooms and dorms. Troopers have nothing to do with the others that are there. Different classrooms, dorms, instructors, classes, schedule, etc…. Can’t even talk to the non troopers for about the first 10-12 weeks. They stay there during the week and go home on the weekends.

Omaha, Lincoln, and the cities/counties around the Omaha metro area all have their own academies. They range from 18-22 weeks and all go home at the end of the day.

That sounds very similar to the situation here in Indiana. One main state academy that most agencies send their people to, but there are also a couple of regional or major-metro areas that have their own. The troopers use the same facility as the main state academy, but have their own curriculum, instructors, and classrooms. I was lucky and there wasn't a trooper class going on while I was down there...I've heard that the interactions could sometimes be somewhat "challenging".

Outstanding. I heard them shooting at the range a few weeks ago while working in Dunbar.
Having grown up in Kanawha County, the deputies have always been top-notch in the community.
I wish him well.

Congratulations to you and your son! Stay safe, and may he have a long and successful career serving and keeping the people safe. He has made his Papa proud! Well done to you both!

Heavenly Father, please watch over C R Carter and keep our law enforcement officers safe. Protect them from danger and harm as they go about their work of serving people. Give them your grace to help them discern what is wrong when it’s hard to tell so that they can stop evil before it happens. I pray for the safety of our police forces and that you would surround them with a shield of protection. That no harm would come to them physically, or emotionally. In the name of Jesus, amen!
