Lots of applicable words used, but the one I thought of, to describe this year of 2020, way before this thread is:

Tough!

It's been tough on my wife, it's sure been tough on me. It's been tough on our Church (the Pastor noted it is the first time in 40 years of ministry that he couldn't go and visit folks in the hospital, even if they were dying).

It's been tough on all of us when we couldn't get some things we needed, regardless of the reason. Tough on friends (phone calls are great, I guess, but seeing one's friends in person is the best way to maintain those relationships).

It's been tough for our country, tough for some of our election outcomes, tough on businesses (you ought to see all the businesses that have gone under in the last 6 months), and tough on kids and parents. It's been tough on families who had planned for something outside the home this summer and had to put those plans on hold or cancel them.

All in all this year has been just plain TOUGH!
