Wonder what a "don't talk about pussy" thread would look like. I guess the cat pictures thread is an indication.

I'm referring to the shit about the players and game strategy and the commercials and halftime show and all the fabulous pageantry of this wondrous event.
Consider this thread to be meta-discussion. How else can I drive my point home? I would have to be playing whack-a-mole, locking/deleting threads on game day until, finally, at some point, members would get the idea. Talk about a waste of time and energy.
This is really the only way; make members aware, then shut it all down

Right, plus (I apologize if I'm repeating myself, but) the NFL really has gone out of it's way to specifically hurt 2A.
Examples too numerous to cite, but within the last few years, the Eagles gave $400,000 to anti-gun groups, the 49ers gave $500k, the bears gave $300k. It all adds up.
Not to mention the NFL's fight against legal CCW because, "they can't predict what would happen in the stadiums."
Well documented, but I can provide links if anyone needs proof. Or check GOA who track this stuff closer than I do.

parabellumOK, this thread will be shut down later today. Any other comments, get them in now.
Once the this thread is locked, there should be no mention of this event, not even in the vaguest way.
It's a shame it has to be this way. I don't care a thing about football, but like just about everyone I like a party. It would be great to have a running commentary, but the NFL is a truly disgusting organization, and they and many of the players hate us, and I'll not have it here.
Remember now, don't go and "forget" my policy on this. That would not be good.

I made some reservations for dinner Sunday late afternoon, with a local chef making dinner for us. Then we called friends to come over and they said "Super Bowl Party??" I'd completely forgotten. Those friends can't come, but my wife and I are still having a nice dinner at home.....
February 07, 2025, 09:39 AM
parabellumEvery Sunday evening, I cook dinner for my wife. Throughout the week, we'll cook or have leftovers, with no particular schedule, but every Sunday night, I cook for her.
This Sunday will be no different and we have come to an understanding without ever discussing it directly, that we ignore Superbowl Sunday as if it has never existed.

newtoSig765Due to my own natural forgetfulness of trivial things, and total disinterest in football, my preparation for Super Bowl Weekend is finished:
I just put a Post-it on my computer screen:

I am doing now what I should have done last year at this time, which is to inform posting members that for all purposes, the Super Bowl will not exist. We will not be discussing it beforehand (beyond the necessity of this thread), we will not be discussing it immediately leading up to the game, or during the game, nor will we be discussing it after the game, and this includes but is not limited to the teams, what the teams do or don't do, the score, the TV commercials, half-time show, the performers in the halftime show, none of it. No news articles relating to all the aforementioned should be posted in the forum. It will be as if this event has never existed.
Despite the fact that the NFL is filled with 85 IQ criminals who would be working as night club bouncers or car wash attendants and who openly despise the United States and its citizens, I allow discussion of this silly game and its players throughout the year, but the fanaticism, the outright obsession with the Super Bowl as the defining event of all human achievement- I find this disgusting. They hate us, they use us, our tax dollars build their fucking stadiums, and people still flock to this shit. I can't do anything about that, but I don't have to listen to that shit in this forum.
Some of you may think that I like it this way, but I do not. I used to love seeing all the great commercials, and despite the fact that I have no interest in football, it used to be fun to have Super Bowl parties but now, it's just a bunch of PC virtue-signalling phony-ass bullshit, and stupid racist thugs who hate us, and corporations twisting themselves into pretzels to show how "woke" they are.
A "black national anthem"??? They are SPITTING on you. They are spitting on the flag and on the Constitution. They are shameless racists and as far as I'm concerned, all the players, the coaches, the staff, the NFL Commission can disappear off the face of the Earth. The world is worse with their shit in it, and I don't want to hear about any of it.
For those of you who have a life-long love of the game and have witnessed the things I've described, you have my sincere apology. I am sorry you find yourselves in a position where what once was a perfectly fine hobby has turned into the utter obscenity we now see. But, this does not change my desire for this forum to remain free from any acknowledgement that this event even exists, beyond the necessity of this thread.
If you want to object to this or bitch to me about my decision, this is the thread to do it in. I won't deny you the privilege of speaking your piece.

oddballAnd to repeat what I posted last year- As a former NFL fan and one who hosted a number of Super Bowl parties in the 1980s, I wholeheartedly support this message. The NFL (and other U.S. based professional sports) have become truly awful in all aspects and can go fuck themselves.

HRKNo bitching from me, we'll watch it, a good reason to get the family together for at least up to half time when the little ones have to go home and the old ones go to bed.
wings, chips, beer, family, I don't let the world shape my views just because they want to virtue signal, but I've watched a few games this year and other than a few end zone strips and the little message on some helmets it's been dei free.

trapper189Yes! My son was right!
I bought a new TV a month ago from a place that has 60 day price guarantee and my son said not to worry the price will be lower before the Super Bowl. This thread reminded me of that, I just checked, and the price is down $200.

mcrimmI went to high school in Green Bay in mid 60’s. I attended lots of games because my father was a big shot in the stadium. I never bought a ticket. I had the opportunity to meet many of the ‘legends’. It was a totally different game back then. I haven’t watched an NFL game in my house in at least 4 years. In fact, I don’t watch any sports any more.

That's what I found funny. After the last Chiefs' parade, I didn't want to work another one AND deal with the World Cup as I'm getting stuck with several days of mandatory overtime. Turns out, I wouldn't have been scheduled on the day of the parade on my old schedule or the new one I'm starting next week.
Oh well...
