It's not just pro sports and it's not just the Big 4 (baseball, "foot"ball, basketball, ice hockey), but all of them.
Yes, even the one sport I play and sometimes watch: Golf.
It's become so bad, so many people are so, dare I say addicted to the stuff, the "news" media spends so much time on it all, that I've developed an active dislike for the big four sports, in particular.

The problem is that some people take it far too seriously, including the players.
It's just a game, played for entertainment.
Now some people think that because they have a particular skill, like the ability to catch a ball, and get well paid for it, that people care about their opinions in other areas of life.
Just play the game.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Yup. Addicted to the phone/social media/internet, addicted to sports. I have found most people like this are super consumers with no hobbies of their own which require movement from the couch.
What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I was especially reminded of their greatness when they saw our Utah plates. All were shocked that I didn't know anything about their all pro quarterback. Super nice people that love their team. I doubt I would be able to say the same thing about Philadelphia fans. Well maybe a few of them

220-9erTrying to think how long it's been since I've watched an NFL game.
Which decade is about as close as I can remember and it's not this one.

V-TailI lost all interest in watching professional sports in 1958, when the traitorous Dodgers left Brooklyn.

Nobody could hold a grudge like my mother-in-law. I thankfully never had a problem with her-- have had excellent in-law luck all around-- but she went to the grave with grudges from the 1940s.
She would approve. I salute you.
She would approve, sir.

I was born in Brooklyn. Growing up, my uncle lived across the street from Ebbets Field. No question about which of the three NY teams we cheered for. Dodgers won the Series in 1955 (year after I graduated from high school). Beer flowed freely that day. Yankees fans were not happy.

radiomanRemember last year's celebration parade. Drunk players who could barely stand and shootings. well..
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple sources have confirmed to FOX4 that should the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX, there will be no rally for the public.
This comes after a mass shooting at last year’s Super Bowl champions rally outside Union Station.
If they win, the celebration will begin with an exclusive gathering at Arrowhead Stadium for players, their families, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. https://fox4kc.com/sports/chie...philadelphia-eagles/February 03, 2025, 08:18 PM
RightwireIt appears that national interest in this years Super Bowl is at an all time low. I saw a local news article today about only 25% of people plan on following through on plans for the game.
