Would certainly be called for. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/...irectors-management/ BREAKING: Remington Laysoff Senior Directors And Management Several sources have confirmed that the corporation has “released” several dozen employees, some of which hold high-ranking positions. Out of respect for the individuals named, TFB will only be releasing their general titles and departments. The news isn’t exactly a surprise – following last week’s report of 120 layoffs at a New York manufacturing plant, everyone had the feeling that more changes were coming. Remington has also faced harsh, and mostly deserved, criticism in the past few years for failed product launches, quality control issues and completely basically ignoring some specialty divisions such as Advanced Armament. In the end, someone is accountable for both the successes and the failures – an obvious conclusion that some companies never reach. However, the harder questions remain: does Remington have enough talent left to fix the problems they have and develop new firearms that people actually want to buy? Do they have the resources to hire new blood that will favor innovation over pure profitability? Me personally, I’d settle for quality lever actions, bolt actions and pump shotguns that we all used to trust to work every time. Get back to basics of producing industry-standard guns and worry about rolling out the next big pistol sometime later in the future. REMINGTON FIRES HIGH-LEVEL DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT: Director (in Product Management) Director (in Defense) Senior VP (in Product Development) Sr. Retail Specialist WE ASKED REMINGTON MEDIA RELATIONS FOR A STATEMENT: Earlier today we made the difficult decision to release 34 employees across ROC locations. These changes, while difficult, are necessary to ensure the Company’s long-term success in a rapidly changing marketplace. We are assisting affected employees through severance packages and other benefits to facilitate their transition. The small arms industry is facing significant near-term challenges related to slowing order velocity and high channel inventories; a dynamic from which Remington is not immune. After exploring all the options available to us, we were compelled to reduce our work force by releasing 122 team members Wednesday, March 8th from our Ilion, NY site. As we move forward, we will continue to monitor all segments of the business for growth opportunities.

A lot of gun mfgs are hurting now that the greatest gun salesman in history has gone away. Though Remmy didn't help themselves in many ways. Can you say "R51"? I heard a financial guy on the radio say that gun sales have fallen by 15 - 20% over last year. Lose that much of your business and it's gonna hurt. _______________________ “The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. No more Rpus? If Remington sincerely wishes to clean up their act, they need to stop embarrassing themselves by trying to produce handguns. Go back to what you're known for and what we want you for- rifles and shotguns. Leave the handguns to others, because yours stink. When you can again begin making decent rifles and shotguns which meet or exceed the standards by which Remington built its reputation, then perhaps you might consider the possibility of producing a handgun or two.

They're after my Lucky Charms! |
After the R51 the product development and product management guys should have had their resumes typed up. I don't think this will change much. Until Freedom Group decides to get into the gun making business and produce quality products, Remington, Marlin, AAC, ect will continue the slide to second tier status. Shame too. I have an 870 and 700 (pre-Freedom Group). Both guns are solid shooters out of the box. Lord, your ocean is so very large and my divos are so very f****d-up Dirt Sailors Unite!

I am not the defender of Remington in regards to the R51. Apparently they being Remington learned a bitter lesson with R51-Gen1.0 That said I had the opportunity to rent a R51-Gen2.0 at a firearms dealer & indoor shooting range facility. Fired with out problem one hundred rounds of WWB 115Gr-FMJ and fifty rounds of Federal 124Gr-JHP. The resident gunsmith of the facility instructed me in the take down and reassembly procedures of the R51-Gen2. My firing experience was positive. Apparently thou based on my rather limited experience of (1) Remington R51-Gen2 problems are corrected.

I wouldn't own a Remington handgun if you gave it to me. I know people say things like that all the time, but really, I mean it, most sincerely. Furthermore, I wouldn't purchase any Remington firearm made within the last 10 years. I certainly wouldn't trust my life to their recent production. Talk about a plunge. There was a time when I and my peers would speak reverentially of Remington, but that's all ancient history now. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

They are not the only company going through this. Many companies were on overdrive making product running up to the election, and with a positive political outcome for gun owners, the market is soft. I visited a local small gun shop recently and they had multiple ar rifles piled up at fire sale ( sub 500 dollar) prices. Demand is down supply is up and production will need to slow significantly as a result.

This isn't about a slump in fireams sales. This has been a long time coming for Remington. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

I am very satisfied with my Remingtons. All 721s and 722s. And one 223 700 VLS. Oh yeah. And a 40X.

Never miss an opportunity to STFU |
Yes, this has brewing for years. Look at any gun enthusiast site. Not many good words about the recent products. I fell victim to it; Bought an 870 and 11-87 of recent manufacture, and they would not feed a magazine-full without problems. Sent both in for warranty work- which they hire out these days- and after 4 attempts on the pump and two on the other, I gave up and traded them back to the store I bought them from. No wonder every other shotgun competitor is eating their lunch. Another case of bean counters making engineering decisions. At least if marketing folks make product decisions, the guns have a chance to be designed correctly. Never be more than one step away from your sword-Old Greek Wisdom

After what they did to Marlin, I'll never buy another new Remington product of any kind, period. I've got 2 JM stamped Marlins and they are works of art. I've checked out a couple of them since Remington acquired them and they are junk. Very sad. Agreed, and they need to be innovative. Remington is who they are because of the 1100, one of the most innovative designs of all time. If they can build a reliable semi-auto gas operated shotgun and sell it for under $1000, they'd sell another few million of them like they did the 1100. But Browning, Benelli, and Beretta are crushing them because the Remington QC has sucked for a decade or more. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

When I bought my Versa Max a few years ago , the magazine cap would unscrew so I couldn't dissasemble it for cleaning. I called Remington and CS told me that they had a run of guns where the employees thought they had to put Loctite on the threads of the magazine cap so it wouldn't come undone. I had to have a warranty repair so a smith could actually get the cap off and fix it. I couldn't believe they didn't have the shotguns returned by the vendors prior to a consumer purchasing a gun with a known manufacturing defect. __________________________

That rug really tied the room together. |
^^^Yep their line was sabotaged by a disgruntled, union employee. Red loctite on everything. The R51 and RP9 handguns are just AWFUL. When a $199 Taurus has better quality controls, and works out of the box, compared to any Remington pistol, you have problems. Big problems. Remington = Kmart = circling the drain If they had any sense, they would close that factory down, fire everybody, and move the machinery down south somewhere and try to rebuild. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

Staring back from the abyss |
I recently bought a 45-70 guide gun lever action. Beautiful rifle and it functions flawlessly. However, after getting it home, I noticed that the front sight was canted off to the side a few degrees. It just amazed me that that could make it through a final inspection. After perusing several gun boards, it seems that this same issue has been present for some time and there is no doubt that they are aware of it. Yet...it continues. Apparently they simply don't much care about it and that speaks volumes of the organization. I own a Wingmaster (70s vintage) and an Express (80s) as well as several 80s and 90s Remington rifles. All of them are fine firearmsm but I won't purchase anything made by them again unless things change. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." For those with Remington 700 and others with defective triggers, a class action settlement has finally been reached. You may make your claims here.
