Your "showboating" is my "doing exactly what we hired them to do". No more business as usual. This ship needs to be righted and they are in the perfect position to get it started.

Unfortunately, my rep is in the McCarthy camp. I knew Zinke was a swamp critter when I voted for him but he was better than the commie bitch he was running against. Our other rep up here is still standing strong though.

And I really like that Round 12 girl. Wow. She's a looker. Big Grin

14 of the hold outs flipped…

Not enough to give it to him this time but moving that direction.

Fix may be in. Hope they got iron-clad guarantee for selling out…

Maybe principles will prevail.

Yeah, I know, it’s Congress, so ethics and morality will likely not prevail, I just want to exceed the over of 19 votes.

Selling out? Eh...
The Club for Growth got involved late in this process, and is brokering some of this. They have been adamantly anti-KM, think about that. I don't believe half of what I'm hearing from either side of this, but if anyone here is suddenly silly enough to believe what they're hearing in the press, have at it.

My take is that there are probably 4 that will never vote FOR KM, partially because he hurt them in their primaries. We'll see.

McCarthy should of known about these hold outs and handled it behind closed doors rather than turning into a spectacle that the Dems will use as talking points against the GOP

McCarthy did meet with this group prior,

They offered up some things they wanted and he flat out told them no, go pound sand.

McCarthy felt he had SOTH locked up, he even moved his stuff into the speakers offices.

Now he's paying for it, the problem isn't the 20+ or so people who wanted change, its the 180+ RINO's who keep voting for him, making it 12 consecutive votes of zero chance, they know it's zero, and the vote should be held until either McCarthy stops his bid or they negotiate a solution.

No doubt that if they put up anyone but McCarthy, someone who will work with everyone on the R side then that person would get the job.

Since he's unwilling to accept changes and move into a more conservative position then he's not the person we need, just because it's his turn doesn't mean he's the right guy....

If McCarty met with this group and was told no, we won't vote for you why the hell did he start moving in when he knew (or should have known) he didn't have the votes to get elected? There's more things under the surface of this deal. I'm no McCarthy fan and would love to some someone else in that position. My point is they had three months to hammer this out and they didn't and now it looks ugly.

I think KM will eventually get this seat. However, he’s certainly been a sent a message that it won’t be business as usual.

If they can stop this vote, they can stop a bunch of others.

Yep. And that's progress.

This deal would not have been possible had the Freedom Caucus coalition listened to the “Conservative Inc” brands in the television and media space, who have spent the entire week insulting and threatening individuals and groups (describing them as “terrorists” and “insurrectionists”) that opposed McCarthy’s hasty accession to the House throne.

McCarthy has a 54(F)

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I imagine McCarthy is frustrated and embarrassed with all of this, and I hope he is.

I am not frustrated by this fiasco, nor am I embarrassed by it, and I'll say once again that if the leftists understood the significance of this event, they would not be laughing. Since they are so blinded by their hatred of this nation and its Constitution, I encourage them to keep yukking it up until the chickens come home to roost.

I applaud those that are holding out to restore the rules before Pelosi. Held their asses accountable. Just think about the wasted years Trump had because of RINO's. This is promising even if he eventually wins the speakership.

Because he assumed that they were bluffing, or would quickly knuckle under pressure after a few failed votes.

If I was one of the holdouts, Id add another demand with each failed vote.

Keep that list of conservative demands growing...each more painful....each escalating the ease with which they could remove his ass.

Won't be surprised if a backroom deal isn't struck to flip enough Dems to drag him across the finish line, thus negating the “Insurgents”.

Deal would have Dems' political agenda pushed through; no examination of Hunter B's laptop; and some favorable committee assignments.

Proving once again that the Stupid Party can't govern without the Evil Party telling them how high to jump.
