This is almost too stupid to warrant a comment.
Hold your ground and don’t give an inch.

The problem with this scenario is that you have no First Amendment rights here . Frown

Maybe no first amendment rights, but he does have private property rights. Hence my comment about making them pay for a computer that they can put their own background pic on.

Kinda like, if they want me to be accessible after hours and pick up my cell phone, they better be paying for at least part of it.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

There is power and petty gratification in pearl clutching astonishment. Stomp around and throw a tantrum and you can make others do what you want. These teapot tyrants don’t want what they say they want as much as they want the gratification of affecting another’s life against their will. They are despicable bed wetters.

Could be worse.
You could have a picture of a US Army soldier from the 45th Infantry Division pre-1939 giving the 'OK' hand gesture.

This, I would demand to know why they are following the demands of a Nazi.

Yeah, no. Thank them for their interest. If you were in the South, I'd have suggested the addition of "bless your heart," which is polite Southern for F*** Y**.

Also might remind them of what those swastikas represent. As in, 'For those who may know nothing of history, those symbols represent dead Nazis killed in combat by the pilot of that aircraft. Will you be recommending that the ignoramuses who are offended by Nazis having been killed in combat go get remedial history lessons, or should I?'

Go scorched earth...we can no longer try to fight idiots with reason. They expect you to tuck your tail becuase they have forgotten that all they are doing is selling you a service, I would let my plumber tell me what I could have on my privately owned PC....FUCK THEM with a honey badger with a dose of leprosy and a hangover!

Go to the media like Campus Reform or Brietbart or if you have a local station that might be slightly..constitutional, hire a lawyer have him send a cease and desist letter ......

I would totally frame this as the "snowflake" being a Nazi sympathizer because "no one could be that stupid"

Even though you know they are Roll Eyes

Not only should your classmate be belittled and mocked for being a Nazi sympathizer, but let them know that you are deeply offended and triggered by their implicit approval of Nazi concentration camps.

Also, in your reply send along some horrifically graphic pics of said concentration camps that your classmate appears to be in support of.

Unfucking real.

"I saw Swastikas! I'm offended!"

Oh goodness, what was the context?

"They were on an airplane denoting how man Nazi fighter planes they had shot down!"

Oh, so you're upset they're celebrating the shooting down, and possible deaths, of Nazi fighter pilots? You must be a Nazi, too?

"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Tell whomever is spearheading this lunacy that the photo is an homage to your relative who died fighting for the freedom to be a whiner. Mention that the B 17 was his chariot and his armor and the disrespect to your family, your belief in country and honor, is too much for you to bear. Unless they can articulate why this avatar of America's greatness is too much for some pencil-neck douche to bear, you think you will keep it.

Sorry this is getting in the way of your education.

I taught as an adjunct at several colleges in the past. Most of the full time folks were nice enough, but I was constantly amazed at the degree of ignorance and absolute stupidity of the real world displayed by some of the Phd's.

You can't tar them all with the same brush as many of these professors are really smart people who have dedicated their lives to getting real answers to tough questions. But the naivete of staff and some students alike gives the impression that they would be clubbed baby seals in the real world.

I once asked an administrator why they used so many adjuncts in subjects such as public administration, corrections, criminal justice courses. The response was, "They have no credibility in the subject matter".

I am thinking the only thing that will save this country from the abyss is another world war.

i am not a huge advocate for attorney's solving everything. But I agree. Tell them to myob and go pound sand. In the mean time if you have access to an attorney. Discuss with them.

I am of the opinion expressed earlier. "Don't give an inch."

And I would also like to say. Good for you. We need more students like yourself on campus.

Did the prof explain the situation to the complaining student after your meeting? I would think they would feel silly and agree that nothing needs to change once they know the plane is a Nazi killer.

I don’t see a reason to escalate unless the student remains offended after his ignorance is explained.

Is there a way to get of FOIA(or equivalent) on who reported the issue - then file a report to the proper persons you suspect this person is mentally unstable - so there is a record of the unstability? Such that it impact future job prospects, the ability to own a firearm(not that these types would).

Time to dole out consequences to these idiots.

In simpler times one would just find them and smack them in the mouth!
