Sealed wheel bearing hubs or plain old unsealed bearings on spindles that are malfunctioning from damage and wear due to age, should always be replaced in pairs. Lots of things in cars are always replaced in pairs - shocks, strut assemblies, pre- and post-catalytic oxygen sensors, etc. Like cataract surgery, if you fix only one eye instead of both, your eyesight and visual processing will suffer. Vehicles are no different, they are machines with systems that work in pairs and other multiples of two (spark plugs, brake cylinders etc.)

^^ I disagree. I do my own work, and I only replace Wheel Hubs/Bearing Assemblies when they fail. You definitely inspect all of them when one fails, but I'm only replacing expensive parts that have actually failed on my vehicles. YMMV Wink

^^^ I agree. When doing it for other people (I haven't had to do any of my own yet), I just replaced the bad one(s).

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

I do agree with you and the struts will get replaced, both. The one side CV axle is all I want to do just now as I want new tires up front.

Yes and 1A has good prices too. I will check them both. I don't have a clue about quality of CV axles but I cannot get the high end parts just now. Do the best I can for the dollar.

You can rent any tools you need at all the name brand auto parts stores. Do it all the time. You just have to have a credit card. They charge you the full price of the tool and then refund it when you return tool. Some can be several hundred dollars in price. They will have the needed torque wrench, axle nut and any pullers you need.

My friend has a well equipped garage so tools aren't a issue. I learned today, most all CV axles are remans as opposed to new OEM. A new axle from Toyota is quite expensive so reman it is. I am looking on Amazon for the ease of shopping.

We've had to have CV axles replaced x 3 on our Odyssey. Second one went bad in about 3 months; independent garage called back to AAA garage and got all the work done under warranty!

I'd say I have to agree the remanufactured parts seem to be junk.
Oh and each time the symptom was this:
