Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |
Lately I have gotten text message that sporadically do not give an audible notification alert. Wife says she has the same situation, we are on T mobile with android phones. My neighbor has Verizon and uses an I phone with the same problem. Sometimes the phone beeps, sometimes not. Is anybody else experiencing this? Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

Yes. I'm fully in the Apple ecosystem. If one device is awake and unlocked, the alert chimes there. So if my iPad is unlocked but I'm in a different room with my phone asleep in my pocket, my phone won't chime. There's also some priority involved. If my watch is unlocked, meaning I am wearing it and have unlocked it since putting it on, the first priority is alerts go to the watch. If everything is locked, the first priority is my phone.

Tablet or watch doesn't figure in for the wife or me. Maybe for neighbor. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

This might be the case, if (and only if) your neighbor is using your wifi and is registered with your text provider credentials. Don't know about Google, but for iOS this means your AppleID and password. So, probably not. Somewhere, buried in your Settings hierarchy there is likely to be a toggle that will alter this behavior.

I haven't experienced the issue you describe, but wanted to offer this: on Android, I use a different texting app (called Textra) and have been very happy with it. Admittedly, this doesn't solve your current problem, but might give you a way around it. (Play store link) God bless America.

I get that. The Apple Watch on my wrist either vibrates or chimes, but the iPhone in my pocket is silent. Seems odd since it’s NOT a stand alone watch with cellular, so you’d think everything has to go through thr phone first. Maybe the thinking is if ALL the devices went off at the same time it would be annoying. ———- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.
