Boris is a Brexiteer, hinting that he’ll do a no-deal Brexit if the EU won’t agree to a fair deal for the UK.

“At about 4pm on Wednesday, Boris Johnson will be driven through the gates of Buckingham Palace, ushered in to see the Queen, and be formally appointed the 55th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. And at 4.01pm, his honeymoon as PM will be over.

‘We’re still working on the exact timing,’ one of a number of rebel Cabinet Ministers explained to me, ‘but we’re going to be resigning as a group before Boris walks into Downing Street. We think it’s important to make that statement.’

The European Research Group ‘Spartans’ are planning to give him a little longer. ‘Theresa May spent two years betraying us. Boris hasn’t got that long,’ a prominent ERG member said.

‘He’s got until October 31. I don’t believe he’s thinking of shafting us. But if he does, it’s going to be a very short premiership.’

Boris’s opponents across the Commons are hoping to make it even briefer. ‘We’re preparing for an early no confidence vote,’ a Labour MP told me.

‘Our strategy is going to be to paint him as Britain’s Trump…”

Well that might be interesting if Iran blows up in their face. Considering how small their military is these days.

Ah, he's a Brexiter and not a former lead singer for AC/DC. How's that Brexit going these days?

What's a more effective instrument of foreign policy?

An agile, small, but storied military with recent combat experience that you can deploy at your discretion, or a large multinational force that can be slow and unwieldy, and most importantly: you don't control?

Boris Johnson is crowned new Tory leader after trouncing Jeremy Hunt

“Boris Johnson insisted he can 'deliver Brexit and unite the country' today after the Tories installed him as their new leader.

The front runner was declared the winner of the bruising battle against Jeremy Hunt as the two sat side-by-side in a dramatic ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth II centre in Westminster…”

“…
U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted his congratulations and said Johnson will be “great.”

Trump has been very critical of May’s inability to achieve a Brexit deal and has said Johnson will do a better job.

Johnson, a former London mayor, has wooed Conservatives by promising to succeed where May failed and lead the U.K. out of the European Union on the scheduled date of Oct. 31 — with or without a divorce deal…”

BoJo as he's called back in the UK, much like Trump, has the crosshairs of the liberal press on him now. Words like racist, bigot, elitist, self-absorbed will liberally tossed about by the press and media with Johnson as PM. NYC born, Oxford educated, the disheveled-look is interesting, as is the dithering speech pattern. He has been accused of being lazy and riding the coattails of his past success, he's very aware of himself and understands how to go toe-to-toe with opponents. It'll be very interesting to go from milquetoast May to colorful Johnson.

I am glad to see a pro-Brexit PM take over.

It looks like Germany's biggest bank is having a meltdown, just one more reason for Britain to have their independence.

I have a few SIGs.

This dude is going to be like the UK's Trump! Big Grin
Sounds like he speaks his mind like Trump too.

From the Ireland's Independent on July 20th:

Just an FYI:

Taoiseach = Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland (The word taoiseach means "chief" or "leader" in Irish and was adopted in the 1937 Constitution of Ireland as the title of the "head of the Government, or Prime Minister")
Leo Varadkar the current Taoiseach is actually Indian descent.

quote:

Another controversy has erupted after Boris Johnson - who looks set to become British prime minister next week - allegedly made remarks asking why the Taoiseach "isn't called Murphy like all the rest of them".

The comments about Taoiseach Leo Varadkar are said to have been made while Mr Johnson was foreign secretary and are among a series of insults about other EU leaders. Yesterday, UK Labour peer Andrew Adonis said the comments are "deeply depressing" and argued they make Mr Johnson "profoundly unsuitable" to get the keys of 10 Downing Street.

The comments were revealed by 'Financial Times' journalist Philip Stephens who wrote that "such jibes find a way back to foreign capitals".

The article claimed that while he was at the Foreign Office, Mr Johnson was "heard to muse as to whether Chancellor Angela Merkel had served in East Germany's Stasi secret police".

It added that "French President Emmanuel Macron was a 'jumped-up Napoleon'," and "As for Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, 'why isn't he called Murphy like all the rest of them?'"

Mr Johnson has a well-documented history of off-colour or controversial remarks. He was criticised last year for saying Muslim women wearing burkas "look like letter boxes" and he reportedly described the French as "turds".

I think this basically guarantees a no deal Brexit. Boris (and the rest of parliament) isn't accepting the deal May worked out with the EU, and the EU isn't renegotiating.

Well that might be interesting if Iran blows up in their face. Considering how small their military is these days.

I think the Royal Navy can handle the Iranian navy.

It is all PR. Not even brinksmanship, to date. Neither side wants conflict.

It's always good to let the opposing side in your negotiation that you have a great alternative for a no-deal scenario. If you can walk, it gives you clout. Smile

If it looks like Boris will get Parliament approval for a no-deal Brexit, the EU will suddenly sweeten its offer to the UK. The EU doesn’t want a no-deal Brexit. The art of the deal. Mrs. May lacked that art.
