I was always a 0.5mm mechanical pencil guy, but those are some cool photos. I hope that place stays around as long as possible. Henry David Thoreau's family owned a pencil factory, and Thoreau himself made some innovations to the production of pencils that made them more competitive with the pencils from England (which were universally regarded as the best). For one thing, he ground the graphite into a much finer powder than ever, so that it hung in the air inside the grinder, then he skimmed that airborne powder off and compressed it into the cores for use in the pencils. This old Brick building has been converted to Luxury "lofts" if you ever entered the Holland tunnel from NJ to NYC it is located on the Northside of the tunnel (1 Block but large) | |||
