A bipartisan House Panel finds Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) guilty of stealing $5 million in FEMA funds, money intended to help disaster victims. This started back in 2023; I never heard about it, have any of you? https://www.cbs19news.com/u-s-...fc-c08598c475f5.html U.S. House panel says Florida Democrat guilty on 25 of 27 ethics charges (The Center Square) – Florida Democratic U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has been found guilty of 25 of 27 ethics charges by a congressional panel. The three-year probe into charges of stealing millions in federal relief funds, some routed into her congressional campaign, is not over with Friday’s decision by the adjudicatory subcommittee of the Ethics Committee in the House of Representatives. Next up is a full committee hearing after the two-week recess for Easter. Chairman Michael Guest, R-Miss., and ranking member Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Calif., in a joint statement said the statement of alleged violations counts 1-15 and 17-26 were found to be “proven by clear and convincing evidence.” Any sanctions will be assessed by the full committee. Among the options are Cherfilus-McCormick tendering resignation or expulsion. Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., said he would prepare the latter. Expeling a member of the House takes a two-thirds vote. Among the accusations is $5 million in FEMA funds paid to her family’s company and transferred to her and others for the congressional campaign. Cherfilus-McCormick and three others have been indicted, charged not only with routing money to the campaign but also her personal gain. She and lawyer William Barzee were in a seven-hour hearing open to the public on Thursday. The subcommittee deliberated past midnight. -------------------------------------- Additionally, at least 2 Dem Congressmen, Vicente Gonzalez and Marie Perez, have called for her resignation. .

Well she learned from one of the Best, her predecessor the dishonorable Alcee Hastings, but apparently didn't choose wisely. This dude was infamous... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcee_Hastings

Yeah, all the democrats are supposed to know that using your position in Congress as a looting enterprise should only involve getting inside stock tips for quick gains. -Nancy Pelosi Or laundered through AID to "non-profits" that find their way back to you eventually. -The rest of the Democrats. And you are right about Hastings. All he had to do was scream racism any time he was caught. I guess she hasn't learned that trick. Remember Charlie Rangel, the dirty Dem from NY that got caught never paying taxes and accepting big bribes, including free trips to the Dominican Republic, but apparently did not suffer any real consequences? .

Seems so common, favors, routing $$, legislation, whatever. Can go back to Hillary,s favored trades in Arkansas. Look at AOC, or Omar in MN, come in with very little, a few years later, 30 million in assets. Yes, not immune on the other side of the isle. Old Bernie never had much of a job until he was 40, then ‘gov’t service’ his whole life. He and his wife grifted themselves to millions, while mostly not doing anything beneficial for citizens.

She's going to get scorched. Democrats on the panel voted to convict her. She's from a red state, and the prosecutors are after her. She has no following, she isn't important to the Dem coalition, and the Dems know that they have a fraud problem with the general public. I expect her to be sacrificed to the greater good of eliminating fraud, with the Dems secure in the knowledge that another Dem will win her district. Thus, they get to look good sending one of their own up the river, they don't lose any significant social media following, as they would do if they turned on AOC or Ihlan, and they keep the reliable vote in the house. As far as they are concerned, win, win, and win. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." Alfred Hornik, Sunday, December 2, 1945 to his family, on his continuing duty to others for surviving WW II.
