Texas fisherman reels in semi-automatic rifle on lake

A Texas fisherman on Saturday reeled in a semi-automatic rifle while fishing on a lake, reports said.

The fisherman called the police and alerted them about the unusual catch.

Authorities met the fisherman on Lake Arlington—which is about 13 miles from Fort Worth-- and took possession of the rifle, Fox 4 reported.

The firearm is currently being held in a “property room,” according to the report.

Evidently, it was a Galil Ace- I wonder what shape it was in and if he is allowed to claim it if no owner comes forward and it hasn’t been used in a crime...

The water at the bottom of a lake (or ocean) is very low in oxygen, so it takes a very long time for them to degrade when submerged. As soon as they're taken out of the water, and exposed to air, they degrade incredibly fast.

Lake Arlington likely has more firearms in it than fish, along with Lake Como in Fort Worth.

Why didn't he just keep it? Abandoned property.

The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

I agree. I hesitate to call it a lake actually. More of a disgusting puddle really.

I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t a high point given the surrounding neighborhoods.
