Congrats, we bought a place on the Emerald Coast (panhandle) last summer and we love it even though it’s a small condo. Modest though it may be, it has a view of the gulf which is just across the street from a public beach. A pool outside our back patio door tops it off. Hope you enjoy as much as we do. My only complaint is not enough close places to shoot.

Welcome! I often refer to this area of Florida as Paradise and, to me, it is.

I'm just a bit north and west of you in Pinellas County (the St. Pete/Clearwater area). I expect you'll love where you are relocating as much as we love this area.

I just have to live through moving. After 28 years in this house we've had a lot to sort and purge. I'm driving down in a couple weeks to get everything set up and meet some furniture delivery. Then we'll go for real at the end of June.

Yes it's hot, full of bugs, expensive and overcrowded but we still have room left for a few more people.

My wife and I moved here 26 years ago this summer from New Jersey.
Even though we did not get as much snow as you did we know the feeling of not having to deal with the frigid winters among other things when we moved here.

Congrats, Parish is a great area although it's getting quickly built up. My parents live 15 minutes south of the area and enjoy it.

Well, we got here last Sunday and loving it so far. We’re still waiting for the movers with our stuff but the two trips I made down before the move got enough to get by on and I bought a Weber Summit Kamado so we’re eating, pulled pork lately. It took all of 4 days to find a gator. My wife wanted a lake in the yard and on day 4 I saw a little one cruising the lake, then another. She thought that was swell and stood on the shore watching them. The next morning I saw one about 6’ long and she decided to watch that one from the lanai. The cranes and herons are great and the weather, except for the summer rain is awesome.

Just go to the front yard, it wont be raining there.

Congrats! Florida is hot and muggy as heck, but winters are really nice, and I'd even opt to put up with the summers over living in New York. Lots of fun stuff to do in FL, too.

Welcome to Florida, adios New York. Parrish is a nice, rural place. I’m a bit to the south, on the Gulf coast. I’m glad I have a pool in the summertime!
