I have a close friend, that lives next to Atlanta, now planning to move to Spain. He has decided to sell his handguns rather than store them. He has a small collection but does not want to deal with the lookers, bargain hunters etc. He has not been shooting for a several years and has no familiarity with any of the shops.

Can someone provide me the name of a responsible shop that does consignment sales ? This fellow lives in Roswell.

Atlanta's a big area with a large suburban area around it.
I'd try to zero in a bit more for the best recommendation. There are a lot of members here from the general area to help but they could still be a hundred miles away without something more specific.

If they are higher end guns and he wants a premium for them, I recommend Chuck’s Firearms in Buckhead (Miami Circle.) That shop sells high end double guns, custom stuff, Colt revolvers, etc. They will ask a premium.

If they are not as high end or he wants them to move faster, Adventure Outdoors is the largest dealer around, maybe even in the Southeast. They are in Smyrna and are a destination shop. They sell a whole lot of guns.

If he wants to sell them more individually, we have a terrific classified website in the area that gets a lot of eyes. Not sure if I should link to it but you can email me. A picture or two and a listing price and if they are priced right they will go quickly, without paying a 15-20% fee to the shop. Let me know if I can help.

Big Woods Goods and Gunsmoke (Hi-Caliber) iirc do consignments. They are in Holly Springs area off Sixes Rd. There are several gun stores in the area. A Google search or an Apple map search will pop up several. Not all do consignment. So a few phone calls would narrow down who does and how much they charge. They can also tell you if what you're selling is good for selling in their shop. And as suggested the classifieds here can be a great resource for selling. There are several members here in the Atlanta area, surrounding areas, that could be looking/wanting what he has to sell. Local, known members, no shipping, no commissions and face to face sales if he is comfortable with that. And note that consignment sales can take a long time, not sure how long your friend has time to wait on a sale, especially if he's going to be out of country. Good luck.

The two shops Yellow Jacket recommends sound like a good start.
I’ve been living a bit out of the area for a while now but friends have spoken highly of both and they’ve been around for a while.

I've bought consignment guns from both of these shops.

Adventure Outdoors does consignments too.

Since I’m in the area, I’ve done retail (non consignment) business with these before with satisfactory results. So, worth a call.

Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range on Roswell Road
https://www.sandyspringsgunrange.com

Georgia Firing Line on Canton Road.

Martins Firearms in Alpharetta
https://martinscf.com/

Adventure Outdoors is absolutely the largest, as mentioned. My go to would have been Sharpshooters on highway 9 as it was convenient but they have shut down.
