As soon as the clerk walked up, I also thought to myself that any remotely rational robber would have just walked out. Dude was big and didn't give the impression from his body language that he gave a F.

Most people would not take being threaten by someone robbing them and claiming to have a gun that calmly... and why not hold him for the cops?

I bet the guy was a regular, or at least known to the casher... and drunk.
