I’m always trying to explain in my threads how things work differently this far south of the Rio Grande.

Here is a good example:
A small football club is about to go broke. They lost all at Court.

During a match, a player from the visiting team got hurt. Things got complicated and the player lost his leg.
Justice took its time and the injured party is finally entitled to the equivalent of less than $28k.

This all happened in 1985.

Only now, 30 some years later, the settlement is final. The current authorities of the Club weren’t even born when this started.
The one legged former player still has to find a way to collect his money…

There was an email thread several years ago, written by a fellow who lived through the 2001 financial meltdown in Argentina.

It was a real eye opener in understanding how Argentine socialists think. I still have it on my computer somewhere.

(As an aside, as a Catholic, it’s also helpful in trying to fathom our current pope’s thinking.)

While some of what that guy wrote back then was true or close, most of it was a load of crap and a quite admirable source of income.
He went to become some sort of EOTWAWKI guru to those who desperately like to believe. A local but unknown and ignored Gecko45.

In our SHTF summer scenario, i had a couple of months old baby, all my independant jobs and income vanished in the thin air and the banks kept our cash, specially the hard currency and gave us the vird in exchange. Government was orchestrating it snd causing it. They had created the bubble.

But but very spectacular small riots, well orchestrated too, people wanted peace and to get back to work.
Now the same kind of powers have created 3 generations of people living from the free shit the government provides. No education no jobs and more important, no intention of ever getting one.
I read that more and more often entire crops of fruits that need to be collected go to waste because those that used to pick them now make enough from the State not to bother.

Good to know. One of my kids had forwarded the email to me and I thought the guy was the real deal.

Please, please, make this a consequence to be avoided in this country. Don't let us end up like Nicky!
